The easiest way to balance the game is to tighten the control over builds. MoP's system reduces the need for that because now they can just make new specializations for abandoned niches of playing.
Why don't you post that on the official forums?
But what baffles me is WHY. The unorthadox builds do not hurt the regular ones, it I don't understand why Blizz has a problem with them.
And I can't stand the official forums. It is a cesspool, and this is coming from a guy who works at Wal-Mart.

The most overpowered trees were unorthodox. So all unorthodox builds were trampled in the process of a generalized balancing.
If they were OP, they weren't unorthadox. Unorthadox are the builds that are based around the player having fun, but possibly gimping themselves.

Unorthodox stands as that which breaks a convention. Severely gimping yourself in lieu of what you prefer can be considered unorthodox. But I used it in the sense of builds that took a talent in this tree, another in that other tree that combined made the character too powerful.
Which, because they were the best builds, would have become cookie cutter. Which is the opposite of unorthadox.
