I haven't run through every single detail of the Wowhead News site, but one thing I see missing in the MoP expansion details is conflict. Arthas was going to Scourge the world, Deathwing was going to sunder it open... and these pandas just want to spar? I'm personally very excited to explore and experience the new Pandaren zones just for the sake of enjoying this less serious expansion to the World. But those hardcore players who are looking for the next chance to avert the latest world-ending crisis will likely be disappointed in comparison to the last few expansions..
i want to talk about your conflict problem. One of the things that blizzard talked about at blizzcon is that they want to move away from the big bad guy, and into the horrors of war. They want to bring back an allout war between Horde and Alliance, and that is exactly what is happening on Pandaria. The Horde and Alliance are at war over the Panderans, most likely trying to win their favor. I am guessing that the next expansion may expand on this more as an actual all-out war. They also stated that all the other expansions have had very dark, and evil tones, and they want to lighten up the mood.
as for the views on the expansion, i personally love it, yes it seems they are copying kung fu panda and pokemon, frankly i don't care. This seems awesome, i love many of the changes they are making, and i can't wait to see what else is to come. The is a poll here
http://www.wowhead.com/forums&topic=196603
, it says if you are too lazy, so far, ~45% like the expansion, 30% think there is a problem but still looks good, 15% hate it, and the last few don't care. So i would say not everyone hates or, is going to quit WoW because of it.

you'd be wrong. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is good, but that's not what the whiners and qq'ers are doing (or even intend to do).
What they're doing is destructive, and deliberately so. It not only ruins the atmosphere in the community, it actually drives prospective customers away from even trying the game, and quite possibly causes people to terminate their accounts in disgust at the community.
It also demoralises the developers and other Blizzard staff, causing them to shut themselves off from community interaction more and more (there's already no more community feedback email or suggestions forum in Europe for example, GMs are rarely if ever in game anywhere, only contact you in response to a ticket and then only through a special chat session rather than popping up next to you more often than not, etc. etc.).
...
So the whiners are demoralising the devs and gms, possibly causing loss of revenue, and you think they're a good thing?
And oh, you can't base any real opinion about the next expansion based on a few bits of very early concept art used to demonstrate the general atmosphere of what's planned.
Wait until the open beta at least (not the closed beta of course, as you will be under an NDA if you get an invite to that) to voice any opinion (and don't even formulate it until you've actually seen the thing in action at a tradeshow or playing a beta, and even then classify your opinion as being based on a limited experience of unfinished content).
That's an awful lot of assumptions to make. You assume QQers and whiners intend to bring down the quality of the community and demoralize Blizzard staff. You assume GMs don't show up in-game because they'd rather cut themselves off from the community as much as possible. You assume someone is lying when they voice their opinion. You assume developers and GMs don't know enough to see constructive criticism within whining posts.
No, I don't assume the majority of them do it with that outcome in mind (I KNOW some do it for that purpose, but not most, most of them are just too stupid to realise what it is they're doing, they're basically spoiled brats throwing a temper tantrum whenever something isn't perfect according to their extremely flawed definition of perfect (which also changes on a moment to moment basis)), but it is the result.
Sorry, I misunderstood which meaning of the word
deliberate
you meant to use.

Personally, I'm hating on the talent tree changes and the addition of Pokemon. We already did talent tree changes, remember? Now GC wants every frost mage to be about 0.05% different from every other frost mage. Why not just do away with the talent system altogether? I already miss my character growing in strength every time I ding (talent system pre-Cata), and I'm definitely going to miss a talent point every other level. Now I have to wait 15 levels just to get a flavor spell? Big time fail imho.
This pretty much says it all for me. I had no intention of ever playing as a Pandaren. I think they look ridiculous. But I could have gotten used to the Asian theme of the expansion, but as soon as I read about the talent tree changes, that was it. I can't believe they're trashing them again. For what, because one spec turns out to be boss? Who cares? They're trying to get rid of cookie cutter specs, but all they're going to do is destroy what makes the talent system fun.

I have a lot less time now for WoW, and haven't raided in forever. I'm mostly looking for something to keep me entertained- not too worried about how serious/competetive/exclusive everything is. The Pandas might be a little silly, or they might not. However, in a game where they make me play Plants vs. Zombies, where Harris Pilton sells overpriced bags, where Robby Flay sends the greatest heroes of Azeroth grocery shopping for him on a daily basis, and where the greatest use two warring nations have found for being able to teleport into an enemy city and fly around invulnerable is to drop stink bombs, I have come to expect things that are silly. I don't think there's anything wrong with it
I'm personally looking forward to pet battling and to having no minimum range. I'm indifferent about the Monk and Pandarian class and race editions. Not looking forward to losing my melee weapons (I had hopes they'd one day let me equip the war glaives). Overall, I have to judge it by if it's peaked my interest in the game again (which was dwindling), and I have to say it has- I'm probably going to pay for that annual pass so I can get the mount and the free copy of Diablo III.
I can see why other people might dislike the ideas- some of them are a little "cute". Some people prefer the game to remain as serious as possible, and to not break immersion by too many pop culture references or too much "silly". I understand where the people who don't like it are coming from. I just happen to like it personally.

meh, I'm pretty neutral towards the pandaren, I think they are one of the most badass races in the game, but as for actually playing one, I'm neither gonna go all
HATE HATE HATE
nor go all
SQUEE
I'll just treat them the same way I've treated the goblins and worgens, I made one of each for their zone, once completed, I deleted them, and I still respect and admire several NPCs from both races (Such as Crowley for the worgens, and the gob squad for the goblins)
as for you atik, dude, if you dont like the race, dont create one, simple as that, this expansion is NOT centered arround them. Heck, did you saw WOTLK centered arround the native races of northrend? sure the Vrykuls were in several places, but they werent the center of everything, just as the worgens and goblins weren't the center of everything on cata.
when everything has been said and done, pandarens are just one race, just that, the main badguy isn't a pandaren, the main protagonist wont be a pandaren, and while the story takes place in their continent, it doesn't mean it will revolve exclusively around them, considering that pandaria is inhabited by multiple sentient species, in the same way as norhtrend was inhabited by several sentient species, not just scourge.
as for the pokemon battles, again dude, if you hate them, DONT DO THEM, seriously, why must everyone rage about this? absolutely NONE of the rewards of the pet battle system is a game-breaking item, its just titles, and maybe tabards if anything, its just a mini-game to help kill some time in the game, if you hate it that much, just dont do it, and problem fixed.

I think that people are hating on Mists of Pandaria generally because it's such a leap from previous expansions. In Vanilla, we had tons of demons to fight - so when TBC came along, no worries - everyone was familiar with demons. Everyone knew the Lich King, and most people knew Deathwing, and almost everyone knew Ragnaros - two of the front figures of Cataclysm.
With Mists of Pandaria, however - those not very into the lore are completely unfamiliar with the Pandaren, and add to that the drastic revamp of the talent tree(s) and the addition of Pet Battling (AND NO BIG BAD OMG END OF WORLD ^&*! BLIZZARD U RUIN WOW), it isn't really odd that people are going crazy over this.
I like it, personally - but I think it might have been a bad idea to announce everything at once - at least judging from the reactions here on Wowhead and on the official forums.
Stuff
It is easier to find what you don't like and hate on it than it is to dig out what you think will be cool and tell Blizzard they've done good. People seem to have something against praising any decision Blizzard makes.

they remind me (atik in particular with his claim that he's gonna kill every single pandaren he finds) of my guildie, who loathed the worgens, and swore to kill every single worgen he found (even though we're in a PVE realm ;P) without mercy.
here we are nearly 10 months later, and all his claims have vanished, its just kinda hard to focus exclusively on worgen players in a BG or in Tol Barad when there's a whole team of enemies you gotta take care of.
as far as the poke battles go, since blizz made the rewards completely non-essential, you can either play and enjoy it, or just ignore it.
ya know, like the wack-a-gnoll minigame they're adding in 4.3

Everyone has been begging for brewmasters, monks, and specially Pandaren since WoW started. Now all of a sudden once we have them people act like its some new thing blizz thought up for all the little kids as a cute little panda people. Thing is they arent a cute little panda people..not even close, they practice fighting day and night, and love beer! Think spiritual dwarves.
Because people speak up only if they don't like it. For example I really like the Pandaren idea but this is the very first time I stated this, and there are thousands and thousands of people like me. I complain if there is a problem and stay silent if I like things :)

Which is a bad thing in situations like this, really, because it gives people a distorted view on the public opinion. I don't believe for a second that only 1 in 10 people like what has been announced so far, but most of the people who like it say nothing, unfortunately
=/

Everyone has a right to an opinion and the ability to share it in a reasonable manner so long as it falls within the rules / laws of the places it is being shared.
I agree most of what happens with changes like this is just mind-numbing QQ, but there are plenty of reasonable and logical opinions and points in there as well. Same thing when Blizzard wanted to do RealID on the forums and when they wanted to introduce the cross-realm dungeon finder for extra money per month.
And in regards to things like that, I do agree with you; but claiming that Pandarens are cashing in on Kung Fu Panda, and calling the new Pet battles poke-clones(when there are a large number of monster collecting games out there beyond just pokemon) is just needless QQ.
As for the new complainants about the Talent change; I'd take them more seriously if they actually looked into it first before starting to spout: Hell, look at all the people crying that Titan's Grip
must
be gone because you can't get it from Talents anymore........when they said that all of the old required talents(such as Titan's Grip, Ghost Wolves, Metamorphis etc etc etc) are going to be gained as you level as part of your Spec choice and that the Talents are there to give you a choice of just what you want to play as without needing to take this talent or that talent to pump out the extra DPS. An example from the Q&A was that say you have a talent that's good for fearing but you are going into a fight that has mobs immune to fear; you can then change out the talent for one of the other ones, in a similar manner to changing glyphs.
So yeah, if people are just going to complain and cry without learning things, I'm going to mock them as QQ'ers; if they have a legitimate complaint, and I know at least a partial answer to it, I'll treat them seriously and try to respond in a way to put them at least partial rest.
