[SPOILERS] Legendary Questline Links and Info

A few days ago MMO posted a video about the legendary questline. The rogue in the video said that for the quest where you're making your way to Creed you will need another rogue to be able to make it through successfully. I was wondering if you also experienced this when doing the quest. It seems a bit odd to make it to hard for someone to do on their own, and being in a very small 10man guild I personally wouldn't know a rogue that I could do it with.
Sorry if this was previously answered, I only mildly skimmed through all the comments here. >.<

I want to point out that n1k didn't use the most efficient path on the ptr build he recording that on. I never needed another rogue to do anything outside of the raid instance. In the more recent builds they made several parts of Gilneas City extremely dense; some groups are simply impossible to walk between, but I (and others) always found a way around them.
Somewhat related: I intend to go over that quest one last time this weekend barring any server hamsters meeting their maker, my apartment catching on fire, invasion of locusts, etc. Ideally, I'd like to have a preview for the guide (which is now a couple drafts in believe it or not) ready sometime next week with the info I get from this weekend. Ideally, of course. This way I can get some feedback on writing style and structure, as well as make the first steps a little more informative
before
patch day. I imagine many people would benefit more from this if I were to publish the first several steps before patch day.
Lastly, I still haven't found anything about Fermion. That, along with the stats on the stage 2 and 3 daggers, are probably either unimplemented, scrapped (just in the case of Fermion) or obfuscated somewhere still.
EDIT: I'm going to blame locusts. There's still a chance that I can get the resources I'm looking for before the week's end, but in the meantime I'm going to blame locusts for the delay.

I was thinking about
Shadowy Gem
and
Elementium Gem Cluster
.
We all know that the first came from opening the second.
If we check at the quests, we only have to collect clusters then open them or not, depending if we are at stage 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 in the questline. We didn't get various component to collect (embers, cinders and essences) like casters had from Firelands and I'm a bit sad about that "lack" of originality. Thanks event bosses are quite good !
(I think you can update your guide to precise that those 2 items dropped from bosses and not "creatures" as it is currently specified :))
Keep on the good work!

As of yesterday of the ptr (11/13/11).
Multiple rogues can pickpocket hagara by just pulling the boss and reseting/ wiping to her.
I'm not sure this will make it to live but myself and another rogue in my guild have done this, after the first rogue got his pickpocket.
It was done in 25man Normal Hagara.

I've kind of neglected the front post lately since I've started migrating info into the guide format. I'll update it now.

Interesting. Not sure how I'll handle this topic on the final draft now, since there's been a lot of info contradicting / changing through the PTR cycle.

The stage two daggers are on the PTR:
The Sleeper & The Dreamer
Thats kind of odd I would have thought the S2 daggers would be 410 ilvl like the hm gear.

We haven't developed anything in ShadowCraft yet, but I would guess the second stage daggers are a lot stronger than the 410ilvl counterparts.
Now, in the more than likely scenario of a guild having to get two or more sets of legendaries, I'm wondering if it'd be possible to have every rogue getting gems/clusters at roughly the same time. Is it possible to check the content of the clusters without looting the gems?, I imagine they work much like the JC prisms or lockboxes, that you can open and check what's inside but not necesarily loot all the gems to then trade it.
This way we could have a rogue with the first stage looting some gems, while a second rogue with the second stage could get the cluster devoid of part of the gems; in the case that the gems come in only one stack, I reckon we could decide that a 4gem cluster is not worthy to be given to the first rogue, but a 7-8 gem would go to him/her, minimizing the time it takes to complete two sets, which is ultimately the goal of what I'm proposing.

Well, there's a couple issues I see. First being that I'm pretty sure you can't trade anything labeled as a quest item. The second being that you wouldn't really speed up the first legendary by giving the sub-6 clusters to one rogue, and the others to the first. The first rogue would complete it much faster if they just received all of them, and the second rogue wouldn't gain anything.
I could see how the total time spent collecting would decrease for a single rogue if the clusters with 4-5 gems were saved for Sharpening Your Fangs, and the clusters with more were used for Cluster Clutch. This would lengthen stage 1, but should decrease stage 2. I just don't know (off the top of my head) if it would have any meaningful impact on the time required.
I'll update this post in a little bit with whether or not you can look inside the clusters before looting. I want to say no that you can't look inside first, but I've got some bookmarks and videos stored. If I remember right, the clusters are an item with an on use spell attached to them, right clicking the cluster triggers the spell which tells the server you want some gems, and the server adds you however many you luck into directly into your bag.
EDIT: You definitely can not view the contents before gaining the gems.

Well, doh, I should have noticed the 'use' effect on them before.
To clarify it a bit, the format in which some fellow rogue formulated the question was more in line with the 'saving low-gem clusters for future use', but I thought it'd be more ambitious to include the possibility to gear more rogues at once, for the sole reason that having several rogues on stage two could be more powerful than having one with stage-3 and a pletora of them on stage-1. Now, this may seem a bit silly for a 2 rogue team, like the one I raid with, but I do know some guilds that run with as many as 4 rogues (I used to raid with 5 during Ulduar and early ToC, go figure).
Anyhow, as usual, thanks for the swiftly reply.

Yeah I saw your post with the EP weights and how they compare to the heroic Deathwing weapons, it's an interesting point. I don't think there's any real "best answer" for that situation, and each guild should probably have their officers figure that out themselves. I'm pretty sure our guild is doing them sequentially, for what it's worth.

WoW, nextormento here /kudos
Anyway, it seems that the legendaries are really "overpowered" (i don't have any other better word in mind), mostly due to having a very high stat budget.
Long story short, getting the step one doesn't seem so difficult (i expect lots of guild selling the 3/8 bind for the quest item), and when we get them, we don't need anything else.

xnihilo
Now if they could shorten the questline a bit more for 10m raids, I would be happy.
There is only the difference between heroic and normal mode, not 10 and 25 man. Heroic will drop more than normal.

I've seen nothing to indicate that 10 and 25 would complete at the same rate. It's been 1 cluster for 10man (both normal and heroic), and 2 clusters for 25man so far. While it's surprising that there's no increased rate for doing it on heroic, I won't complain. Especially if the quickest you can possibly acquire the daggers currently is during your 6th week.
EDIT: This is to clarify the below post. Because I wasn't paying full attention to limitations of this forum system, I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to fully show the first half of the guide so far. What you see below is most of the stage one writeup, lacking a significant portion of the formatting and images that will be in the final guide. I'm eager to hear what people think of the writing style, so I don't waste time with what it looks like when 4.3 drops. I'm all ears, and open to any criticisms, no matter what.

Stage 1 - Jaws of Retribution
Proving Your Worth
Start
End
Requirements - Done In Raid
Lord Devrestrasz
Lord Devrestrasz
Acquire:
Cryptomancer's Decoder Ring
This is the very first quest in the chain, in order to start it you need to talk to Lord Afrasastrasz who is standing inside the Dragon Soul raid next to the entrance at the start of the raid lockout. However once you kill Morchok, he moves into the temple.
Pick pocketing Hagara is a little more than walking up and asking her for the ring. To describe this, I need to describe the encounter. Before Hagara descends upon your raid, she summons portals that a group of trash will come out from, she does this several times until she drops from her platform and starts attacking the closest thing. Since your raid wouldn't appreciate it very much if you stood around waiting for the fight to start, you should work to DPS down the NPCs that spawn until Hagara is ready. Once Hagara is off her platform, pop vanish, let your tanks get aggro, and steal some paraphernalia. Grats! You're done with your first step of the quest line.
<This part will be rewritten.>
A Hidden Message
Start
End
Requirements - Done Solo
Lord Devrestrasz
Corastrasza
Purchase a Decoder Ring Charging
Solve the Cipher from Corastrasza
Upon returning to Lord Afrasastrasz, he will inform you of why you needed to pick pocket Hagara, and points you toward the Ethereals in Stormwind/Orgrimmar to get it charged quickly and discretely. This is clearly an individual who has never done shady business before. No way. Never.
Upon arriving at the Ethereals, you should find
Thaumaturge Rafir
/
Thaumaturge Altha
standing off to the side. He will have a couple of dialogs for you, and ultimately request 10k gold to start charging the ring over the next 12 hours. Note that you do not need to be logged into the game for 12 hours for the ring to be charged. Should you decide that you would rather kill him while he sleeps instead, he will pleasantly let you know that he no longer sleeps and refuse to charge your ring (until you pay up that is).
The next step in this quest is to fly to Corastrasza in Vermillion Redoubt, and get the cipher from her. You won't be able to decipher it until your ring has fully charged. You do not need to be logged in for the 12 hours so take your time, log out and get some fresh air, do some dailies, drink your ovaltine, get some sleep. After the 12 hours is up, you can decipher and turn in the quest to Corastrasza.
To Ravenholdt
Start
End
Requirements - Done Solo
Corastrasza
Mostrasz
Fly to Ravenholdt with Mostrasz
Corastrasza requests that you fly with Mostrasz to Ravenholdt Manor. I strongly recommend you talk to Mostrasz right next to the burrow entrance under the tree and fly with him, rather than fly alone. The red dragonflight encourages heavy use of the buddy system, and Mostrasz will be your friend in the next quest. Also, it's a requirement.

This is where things get tense. Ravenholdt Manor is no longer the Ravenholdt Manor you may remember. There are now dozens and dozens of highly alert level 85s who are hellbent on making sure no one gets inside the Manor. You will have to make heavy use of Sap and Distract (and hopefully not need Vanish), to get inside.
Upon starting the quest, you should first enter stealth. You will see a red circle appear underneath you, this circle represents your safe stealth range, since the range at which NPCs can see you is now bigger than normal. As an NPC gets closer to the edge of the red circle, they will turn and face you like an NPC would normally look towards you if you got too close. At this point you should realize that your Sap range is just beyond your red circle's radius. You should note that you can also Distract a target, allowing you to sneak past them while they are inside your danger zone. Be aware that Distract is not a free pass, and getting to close or staying around for too long will tip the NPC off to your presence.
You first start by going counter-clockwise around the area, by either stealthing up to the building and turning right, or staying along the edge of the surrounding hills. Once at the back outside of the manor, you will find rope on the ground, use it to scale up on top of the roof. You should now see a box stuck in the wall, use this to enter Ravenholdt Manor. You will find yourself standing at the top of the spire, stealth down the stairs to the second floor overlooking the table, you should see Fahrad pacing to your left. Look underneath you for patting NPCs to make sure none of them will be in your danger zone when you drop down, once you're sure the area is clear, drop down and quickly run under the stairs and into the basement. If you enter combat make sure you vanish immediately and hurry down the stairs, there is still hope for you.
Should you succeed, you will be rewarded with a brief cut scene, and Wrathion will be ready for quest turn in after walking back upstairs to the table near Fahrad.
If you're feeling particularly masochistic, you can try and run through the front door with a Sap, a Distract, and a Sprint+Vanish. The odds of you completing the quest through the front door are noticeably worse than entering using the rope however, but you are certainly welcome to try!
Our Man in Gilneas

Requirements - Done Solo
Wrathion
Zazzo Twinklefingers
Talk to Zazzo
Wrathion wants you to meet up with a particular mage at Gilneas City, or what remains of the city. You will find Zazzo waiting outside at (70.1, 40.7) in Gilneas, not within the city but just outside it.
Assassinate Creed
Start
End
Requirements - Done Solo
Zazzo Twinklefingers
Zazzo Twinklefingers
Find and kill Creed
Being a mage, Zazzo is slightly incapable of stealthing all the way to Creed to help you. Despite being able to forcefully pull you out of the city, he apparently lacks the ability to be of any real help what so ever. But that's okay, because there are easy ways to get to, and kill, Creed.
There are a couple good ways of getting to Creed, most notably the paths that involve jumping into the river, and running up the docks to the south.
<There will be an image here>
Creed has 1,859,760 health, and has two phases. For various reasons, Combat handles the various mechanics the best. He is susceptible to all forms of CC: incapacitates, disarms, snares, interrupts, etc with the exception of kicking Consuming Darkness.
Phase 1 lasts until 75% health:
-
Consuming Darkness
- Spawns a short range AOE underneath the player. Should be moved out of immediately to reduce damage taken. Can not be kicked, but Creed can still be stunned and incapacitated while being cast.
-
Blackhowl's Will
- A strong ranged attack that eliminates your energy. This cast should be interrupted by any means.
In phase 2, he adds another spell to his repertoire:
-
Shadow Breath
>
Shadow Breath
- This is a negligible ability, and only requires the player to move behind Creed. Creed will not turn while channelling the second part of the cast, which allows the player to take no damage if they move, and allows the player to deal some easy damage too. Do not waste a stun or interrupt on this cast, just move.
2 minutes after you engage Creed:
-
Berserk
- Deals 100% more damage.
Throughout the encounter Creed will cast Consuming Darkness which spawns an AOE under you, while peppering a few Blackhow's Will and Shadow Breaths in. It's important to move him out of the void zones, and fight outside them. Make heavy use of
Gouge
and
Kidney Shot
and Creed will be locked down too much to out-DPS your Recuperate. If you're confident that the enrage won't be an issue, wait out your blind for the sake of your cooldowns despite not gaining health. While he is pretty easy, he can still catch people off guard. Save most of your CDs for P2 and the enrage, I recommend starting phase 2 with
, and leaving
Evasion
for the last 20%.
There are several utility glyphs that you would typically skip in PvE that can be of use here, make note of
Charred Glyph
,
Charred Glyph
,
Charred Glyph
. There are also several utility talents that are fairly strong during this. If you find yourself running into issues, try grabbing talents like
Elusiveness
,
,
or
if you don't have them already, however don't feel limited to just these.
It's important to note what this fight involves, while you will try and CC Creed as much as possible, there are some issues that arise simply because you're fighting an AI unit 1v1. For example, you lose a significant chunk of time to be behind the target for
to kick in, you also lose the ability to
Backstab
and
Ambush
for most of the fight as Sub. Creed can be killed by any spec, but this fight does appear to favor Combat for various reasons, and Combat is definitely recommended.
The Deed is Done
Start
End
Requirements - Done Solo
Zazzo Twinklefingers
Wrathion
Return to Wrathion
Zazzo is done with you for now, return to Wrathion to claim your prize, the
stage 1 daggers
.
Despite portals being the second most common use for mages (the first being a vending machine, obviously), Zazzo will not port you back to Ravenholdt. Enjoy the scenic flight on your choice of one of your hard earned mounts through vast emptiness of Gilneas, as you sit there giddy with excitement.
