How was Maly single combat? That was an army, with the backing of the Red's to help finish him off.
And Atik, we've seen the exact opposite happen too, with the larger race crushing the smaller one into nothing but a bloody smear.

Alright, Atik, come up with a normal mortal matched against a dragon in single combat that does not end with the dragon victorious. King Varian doesn't count, for obvious reasons (the Chosen One of a Demigod, anyone?)
We have a very small amount of lore examples. Onyxia and Malygos come to mind, and neither are average dragons. When was Malygos defeated by a single, normal mortal? In lore it was an army led by Alexstrasza and her flight.
Gnome vs. TaurenThat's incomparable. You're comparing a speedster to a glacier. A dragon has extremely thick scales, is about ten times the size of a tauren (compared to say, twice the size of a gnome), has access to powerful magic, and could probably squish the tauren with a single claw. Tauren aren't fast, and compared to dragons which can fly, yeah. I can't think of any speed advantage.
Human vs. Ogre
Forsaken vs. Vyrkul
Same as above. Furthermore, forsaken are undead... and therefore much less vulnerable to attack than living races.

I think this got derailed from 'Why don't we roleplay as dragons' to 'Dragons can be defeated by joe the everyman/are flying walking talking thinking magic crapping tanks'.
On-original-topic, a dragon's presence can be justified in an RP - as a mentor, or a guardian of some vault, or a corrupted version for a villain, or a Big Good, but hardly ever an adventurer.

I said those were the first two fight I thought of against dragons.
All lore-based dragon battles are against things like Ony and Maly. We have never seen average dragons squaring off one-on-one. They are cannon fodder.
and could probably squish the tauren with a single claw
Still waiting for proof of this.

Arthas didn't kill Sapphiron by himself, he had an army AND
Anub'arak
.

And Atik, you want a gameplay example? Frost wyrm and chimera, scourge and night elven T3 units, respectively, will absolutely rape any single other unit. You MUST outnumber those units or you will lose, badly. Arthas didn't kill Sapphiron by himself, he had an army AND Anub'rekan.
So yes, you frost wyrm will demolish a tauren.
That is just for gameplay though, because if a T3 unit could be matched one-on-one, it would be worthless.

Therefore it's T3 for a reason...

Therefore it's T3 for a reason...
Because it makes an interesting unit for T3 purposes.

You see Ald, I disagree. There is no reason a dragon can't be a regular adventurer, just like a Night elf, draenei, ect.
Real proof that is not a game mechanic please.
The nexus wars, where the Kirin Tor were downing drakes outside the nexus itself. As well as the war of the shifting sands and war of the ancients, where average dragons died by the handfuls.
Oh, and the ones nefarian killed and hand in BWD as decorations.

Common sense alone tells us that dragons are more powerful than mortals atik.....
How so? The word 'dragon' does not immediately make something super-powerful and god-like. (bearded dragons anyone?)

You do realize that dragons in WoW have beards, right?

terrifying, clearly a single swipe from this would kill me, because it is a dragon.

Nexus War was a war; members of Kirin Tor and Wyrmrest were dying to the Nexus Blues as well. War of the Ancients; the dragons were either mass killed by a certain artifact, or died to the spells of the Eredar; the enemy Night Elves? Not so much. War of the Shifting Sands, the Dragons survived for the most part, it was the mortal races who were torn apart by the Quarji and the Silithids; hell once the Bronzes joined in on the fight, they sent the army of C'thun skittering back and sealed the Wall. And for your last example well.....you made our point: Nefarion, son of Deathwing, was doing the killing.
Still want proof that a regular mortal can cleave through the dragons.

I beat your link with this one
; those things regularly kill humans and can snap limbs with their tails.
