Talk to your mom? Or offer to start paying for a portion of the bill for the net.

By college student standards, that's practically normal.

It is his internet... tough luck. But, seriously, if you want to get past the issue, buy yourself a wi fi router, install it on your computer, and just unplug his router from the modem and plug in yours at night.
Edit: BTW, this would technicially constitute theft of services (in oregon anyway), which is a crime, not to mention that you would be betraying your dad's trust. I would think hard how bad I needed that internet. If I didn't need it for school, I would just go to bed and get some sleep.

I did a lot of that in college- other video games, not WoW, though. I also dragged through all of my morning classes, and got sick a lot. I know it's inconvenient, but it is probably better for you. In other circumstances, I'd agree that you're old enough to make the decision yourself, but if it's their house and their internet, you'll probably have to just suck it up.

That doesn't make it the right thing to do.

You know you're going to get caught, right? And they're probably going to take the modem out of your computer and make you do research at the library. Just saying.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Gnub##DELIM##Edited out some text here... let's not get further down that path, alright?

Something I should point out I think is that this is only if I connect through wireless...
However if I connect through a Ethernet cable (which would require me to move my desktop out in the front room but anyways) it will work even if my WiFi is blocked...
So besides just going out and buying a 100 foot Ethernet Cable...
Is there a way to get past this (some sort of program or doing something to my computer?)
Did you read what I said about connecting your own wireless router to the modem after hours?

Does anyone do the right thing any more?

So...the talking to your mom thing is out then? As is the offering to pay for a portion of the internet bill?

They can do that, if it's a desktop. It sounds like your step-dad is pretty technology-savy if he's setting parental controls for your internet. And if it's a laptop, they can just take the whole thing in with them into their room when they go to sleep.
They already think that they can't trust you to keep responsible hours. If they find out that you're just circumventing the block and doing whatever you want, most parents would take additional steps to make sure that you couldn't do that. They will most likely take the computer completely, or take out the modem so that all you can do on it is type and play single player games. And if you argue you need it for school, my response would be that you can study at the library since you can't be trusted to follow the rules at home.
Eventually, someone is going to need a glass of water, or hear a noise, or just not be able to sleep, and they'll see the ethernet cable or the wireless router you hooked up.
