New Warchief?

During Thrall's absence, we all know he has left Garrosh in charge. He believed this would be a good decision, though the other Horde leaders (save Gallywix since he is still in hot water and nowhere to be seen after the Lost Isles) and plenty of Horde fans disagree. For awhile there were some Thrall fans who had hopes he would return once Deathwing and Twilight's Hammer is vanquished, but seeing as how he seems to be rather "deeply involved" with his shamanism, recently married, and taking his birthname Go'el, hopes for the return of Warchief Thrall have begun to wane from my observation.
Should Thrall never return to the throne, what will become of the title of Warchief? I know there are many of us who believe Garrosh is at best a temporary Warchief, and not fit to keep his title. I have seen him mature since the Scourge War, going from a barbarian warmonger to a more collected leader, but still hot-headed, common with orcs admittedly, but not the best thing for someone in his position. He showed us a glimpse of nobility when he stepped in to deal with Overlord Krom'gar after the bombing of Thal'darah.
Basically what I am trying to get here is people's opinions: If Garrosh is removed from power, who will replace him? Do you think Thrall will return, or will someone else take over? If so, who would you suggest for the job? Personally I would have to go with Varok Saurfang.

Thrall is highly unlikely to return, I think. He had to choose between the path of a warchief and a path of a shaman, to fully commit himself to one of them.
Varok is not going to be one, either - he's getting too old for this, and probably just wants to live quietly in his retirement in Northrend.
I dunno, Gorgonna? /shrug
Or Thura Saurfang, if we ever get to see her in-game.

I still cast my vote on Saurfang.

Thrall will be returning to the Horde. Confirmed by Metzen himself.

Said often and many times; most recent was at one of the Comic Cons.
As for the next choice: Who knows, we'll have to wait and see since Saurfang is retired(which is why he's not the current one), the Orcs of the Horde will not follow another race as their leader(which is why Cairne was not made into the Warchief), so it will have to be an orc.

Good to know!
To be honest, I think we're going to see Garrosh in charge for a while longer. If something happens and Garrosh is deemed unfit to rule, I could see Thrall possibly stepping in as another temporary. Saurfang isn't out of the question either, but as stated, he's getting old for the job.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Garrosh popular with most of the orcs?

No, Golden made it pretty clear that while Saurfang remained in Northrend to 'keep an eye on the Scourge', he was really there to live out the remaindered of his life after losing the most important thing in the world to him; she had Thrall consider Saurfang, but reject him because of that and because the old warrior finally need peace: He had been fighting since the Draenor War after all.
And yes, Garrosh is the hero of the younger generation of Orcs for what he did in Northrend, and his commanders from the North are completely devoted to him, if the experiences of the main non-lore Orc from Wolfheart was any judge of character. Garrosh is hated by the player base, seen as a necessary evil by Baine and the Tauren, watched closely by the Trolls, disrespected by the Forsaken(that's going to bite them on the ass eventually), Gobs have a caution respect towards him, and who knows what the Blood Elves think.

There's definitely a disliking towards Garrosh...
I wonder if it would be possible if the Horde were run by an illegitimate dictatorship either by the Orcs or Forsaken. The other races don't really have the manpower to fight back if it were to happen.

If the Forsaken tried to take over, all but the Blood Elves would rise up to stomp them down. And the orcs do seem to have the final majority vote for a lot so.....could almost count them as a dictatorship already.

Bah, Saurfang doesn't need rest, Azeroth just needs rest from him!
Well he is somewhere between 60-80.....

The only reason being that Blizzard has likely forgotten the Blood Elves are part of the Horde.
Well that...and you know, cause the Forsaken got the BE's into the Horde in the first place =P.

Obviously, Thrall will die and Aggra will be left in charge of the horde.

I always suspected Thrall's departure was only temporary, if only because they've kept quiet about what became of Doomhammer's gear, there being something of a legacy to them after all. However, I think it would be kind of neat if he didn't come back and continued to serve the world in a broader role. I'd rather have someone like him who has a lengthy history of earning a position of influence in the world than some "scion of impossible powers" guardian like Medan (can't remember the spelling and too lazy to look it up at the moment), especially since part of the point of Warcraft 3 was about the mortal races learning to protect themselves from the greater evils thereby eliminating the need for a Guardian of Tirisfal who concentrates power to a dangerous level.
As for a new Warchief, yeah it would most likely have to be an Orc, but honestly of the living characters who aren't nearing retirement? I really like Vol'jin, I feel like ever since the reconquest of the Echo Isles he's really been proving himself as a leader; one who's politic enough to reach out to the Alliance to deal with the Zandalar uprising, yet bold enough to make a stand against Garrosh.

However, it would be the perfect capstone to Sylvanas' campaign to alienate everyone in Azeroth.

bah, as if that was an impediment for leadership, Cairne was 90 (in a race that barely reaches the 100 year old threshold) and he did a fine job leading his people.
I'm glad we're getting rid of that f*bleep*ing bonehead garrosh (biggest mistake EVER in a rather long list of mistakes made by the T-man) and double-glad that Thrall eventually will return, but if Thrall wasn't meant to be the next warchief, Saurfang would definitely be my number 1 choice.
Secondary choice would be Rexxar. Hey, he's at least half-orc isn't he?
