Personally I don't have a problem with fresh 85's being dropped in to the same battlegrounds as more experienced and better-geared players. Everyone had to start somewhere, and taking a bit of a beating when you first start out is just part of the fun in my view, haha. Like a PvP rite of passage, if you will.
Yeah, but it does mess up the system abit, because the highres players are gonna get pissed at how fast you are dying. And you are not gonna enjoy the game while you are free HK. In addition, you get the honorbots. They are often very poorly geared and if there are more of them on one side, then the fight will get one-sided very quickly.
And of course, there are ways to mitigate that. Even perpetually-impoverished players like myself can spare ~1k gold (perhaps less if you can craft it yourself?) for the blue BoE PvP set to get started in battlegrounds. That, a little honour for a couple of rings/off-set pieces and it makes a world of difference when you're one of those fresh-faced newcomers. Certainly did for me.
Yeah, I've read this before, but ~1k is not gonna get you very far on every realm. When I hit 85, the Bloodthirsty Leather pieces were going for around 400g (2 exceptions were going for 200g/piece after someone had powerleveled) per piece on the AH. There are 8 pieces, and it would've cost me ~3k to buy them all. I could've gotten it cheaper by buying the mats and having someone craft them, but the matprices were also pretty high at the time and would've cost me just under 300g per piece plus a fee.
Hang in there! I recently arrived at the "payback" stage and it's a lot of fun now that my survivability has increased and I can get heals off without getting 3-shotted, haha.
I'm almost there. I got into a 1vs3 fight yesterday and after getting off 3 fullcombo finishers, I got very confused. I was still alive.

Well, about that, you can't step on Heroics when you hit level 85. Expecting to enter the PvP scene without putting any effort (Frankly, 3k gold today is nowhere near what it used to be...) is the very same. It's just that people usually level through PvE alone and get those juicy rares from the quests along the way, so they have some sort of a start for dungeons, whereas PvP levelling is slower - especially if you lose - and you don't really see many gear pieces coming your way. If people, however, levelled through Battlegrounds and hit 85 with the honor cap, ready to get some basics done right away, they'd be in the same situation a PvE player is facing heroics - some sub-optimal pieces, but a fair set. Alternativelly, they can get the crafting profession of choice and get the mats themselves - if it's a cloth class, that's not even required, since cloth doesn't even require gathering professions.
The point is, people expect to PvE 1-85 and be ready for PvP. Especially if they're a new player, this is simply not true in any way, shape or form. If you PvE, you will have the basics to PvE. If you want to gain an edge for lvl85 PvP right when you ding, however, just as with PvE, you can get your basics way before you get to the level cap, and not doing so is just asking to be steamrolled.

Resilience is essentially a stat that helps separate PvP from PvE, and it does a decent job of it. It also used to cut down on the bursty nature of PvP, although with health pools as high as they are, I see why that changed that.
Healing is the main problem, IMO. Effective healing needs to be cut down to about 75% of what it is right now in PvP. That, or have healing lose its effectiveness on a target after, say, 80% of its total health has been healed, and the debuff lasts 10 seconds. Healing would still be important, but you wouldn't have those situations where it takes 5 guys and 3 minutes to drop one druid or something.

I think the new form of resilience is better then the old one at least. Adding an attribute(resilience) to cancel another(critical strike) was just stupid.
I agree its hard to do some PVE when you are PVP geared but there aint no problem the other way around, I mean getting full vicious in PVP takes a few days..

Why is it stupid? People want to burst you down. You don't want to be burst down. Less people dying to RNG and more to skill.
But regardless, as long as it's balanced to some extent, I couldn't really care less between the old and new ones (I do miss the reduction on mana burns though).

And the only time a 1v1 duel would last that long is if it's two resto Druids were goin at it. But really if you think resilience makes fights too long and boring then you need to work on your skill cap. Pvp is all about teamwork and timeing your burn phases with stunlocks/cc's and coordinating it with your team. If people can heal through your damage output you need to learn your role and attacks better.
There is no teamwork in 1v1.

Does anyone else think that resilience is a stupid stat that downgraded the game, rather than upgraded? I mean, in pvp if you don't have enough resilience then you find yourself dying a LOT. Also, if you raid a lot, and want to do some pvp, you wont have much resilience and have to spend a lot of time getting more pvp gear for resilience. Also, I think its pretty ridiculous when 1v1 duels exceed 30 mins without ending.

I could see good resto's beating bad resto's with Tree of Life + Wrath damage.

Thanks for the contribution. Anyways I was talking pvp in general (bgs and arena). How often do you actually encounter a 1v1? And if you do often your doing pvp wrong.
1 vs 1 can happen alot, especially in Arathi Basin when you have a 1 vs 1, one attacking and defending. The battle might only need to last 10-30 seconds and both of the teams might be busy capturing or defending big scale.
1 vs 1 is generally pliable, considering me, being a hunter, being able to burst down lets say a Rogue or Warrior before they have a chance to get in and cause some major damage?

Any PvP 1v1 with a geared healer will never end. I spent 40 minutes in the STV arena fighting a DK.
