Current "hometown" has a population of 970. When I moved there 15 years ago, it was under 400.
We have 1 stoplight, that is actually now a working signal. Until just a few years back, it was just a flashing yellow / red caution light.
We only have 4 actual "businesses" in town; a gas station, a barber shop, a diner, and a self-storage.
Before they changed it to allow our "police department" (2 officers, driving unmarked "personal" style vehicles) to be able to patrol a longer stretch of the highway to help out the Sherrif, you could actually stand at 1 city limit sign, and see the other one.
You think YOU live in the Bible Belt.....I live in Christian County (really, thats the county name), we have 8 Churches in town....with a population of 970. One of these does have the distinction of being the World's Smallest Cathedral. Sadly, Father Karl passed away, and it no longer holds services.
And no, I don't live in Mayberry, are cop isn't Barney Fife, and I am not married to my cousin (that I know of).

I was born in Sayville, NY.
The community had no formal name until 1838 when residents gathered to choose a formal name for their post office, which had opened on March 22, 1837. Until that time, Sayville was known informally as "over south". The townspeople held a meeting to decide on a name, and after Edwardsville and Greensville tied in a vote, one resident suggested "Seaville". According to historical accounts, the clerk at that particular meeting did not know how to spell and had to go home and look in an old Bible he had brought from England years before. In the Bible, the word "sea" was spelled "s-a-y", and "Sayville" became the name he sent to Washington. After the error was discovered, the town sent a letter of protest to Washington D.C.; however, the Postmaster General responded that the name should stay "Sayville", as there were many "Seaville"s in the world but no "Sayville"s. As a result, the name stuck.
EDIT: Per Wikipedia.

Oh my God it's Sec. Haven't seen you around here for awhile.
As for facts about my hometown: Orem, UT, is like the 8th safest city, crime rate wise, for one of it's size (roughly 100,000 people) or something like that, and has some of the safest roads in the country.

The name is a fact, for sure, but I don't think Sec thought that would be an acceptable response :P
Sydney, at the moment, is in the top 3 for world's most unaffordable cities (relative to income levels), as far as I'm aware.

I don't know whether home town is where I was born or where I grew up.
If it's Chicago, where I was born:
At least 79 elected officials have been convicted of wrongdoing since 1972
If it's where I grew up, the place where the Waitrose is now is where a hotel was which got bombed in WWII.
