sums it up nicely. OP's just another forum troll who's whining because his or her pet feature doesn't get implemented (or gets changed because it's overpowered or noone else uses it).
Hoped these forums would be less full of such crap as compared to the Blizzard forums, guess I was wrong.
The only troll here is you.
Many players like the OP...and myself...have invested a huge amount of time, and maybe by default of that, a huge amount of emotion into this "game".
Sure, 99.99% of the players realize WoW "is just a game". We aren't going to jump off a bridge because we lost a loot roll, or flail around on our bed because Mom deleted our account. But looking back over what, for many of us, has been a 6 year journey can be kinda emotional. Especially if that journey is coming to an end.

Sorry, OP, you fail. Before stating where something went wrong, you first have to prove it went wrong.
Cheers.

Simply put, WOW is failing because the devs believe the solution is to make it easier for solo players to raid, rather than add content that is progressive and challenging for solo players. DDO, with a small budget, found a way to make solo dungeons work for all classes and specs. Blizzard just said ´we are going to make raids so easy, and so accessible that everyone can do them´. Yes, I could raid, I did all of WOTLK and most of Cata until I quit. I tanked probably 1,000 heroic dungeons before I quit. But the fact is, that is not what I wanted to be doing. I wanted to do fireland dailies that were difficult and interesting, not just kill 3 druids of the flame that died in 2 seconds and required no strategy at all.
WOW´s failure is because the devs answered the problem of ´raid2play´back in vanilla by simply making raiding easier and more accessible. They instead should have spent more time making solo questing more challenging and progressive.
I quit, because for the next year, my ´game´would be tanking the same heroic dungeons 7 times per week. If any solo content is added, it will be so easy that the only challenge will be the ´pacing mechanisms´ added. So I will have to log in every day, kill 3 druids in 2 seconds in order to ´progress´my character. There is simply no chance of failure for solo content, except not logging on.
Or, I can log into DDO, enter a dungeon on epic, and spend the next hour finding ways to overcome a very difficult dungeon without needing JohnnyStar or Primadonna from the LFD tool.

seems like another case of wow burnout, happens with every game, the distinction here being most of us know full well were not likely to find something to replace it justt around the corner.

and so with some of the comments posted we illuminated the problem.
It's not the game...it's the people.
OP express a passion for WoW that has been lost by the new generation.
To them it's just another game and in truth I feel sorry for them.
They missed out on something and no matter how many post like OP's go up...they will never get it.

This.
For my main response, see my sig.
For a made up illusion of a response that I made up just so I don't seem like a complete jerk. Continue reading.
I loved Vanilla. MC, BWL, AQ event and raids, Naxx 40, Onyxia 40, ZG. Everything other than questing. End game was fun. Epics were, infact, epic. Legendaries were hard to get and required more than just repeated runs of the same place.
TBC, again, loved it. Questing, in places other than Hellfire, was good. Endgame was still fun. Karazhan, The Eye, Black Temple, Hyjal and Sunwell were my favorite raids. The gating could've been less strict, I admit. But still, gave me at least something to look forward to when I finished current tier.
Wrath, I wanted to just kill myself. Wrath of the Lich King was far far far TOO easy. Naxx just was a rip off as well as Onyxia. Safety dance couldn't kill you like it did in 40 man. Priests didn't tank like they did in 40 man unless it was 25 man. Ulduar was fun as well as questing was better, but that's it. ICC was good before the nerf they gave with the 30% buff to us. TotC was fail. I HATED TotC. I want trash for chances at epics and a bit more cash. I don't LIKE trash, but there should be some. An arena and 5 bosses, no trash was just not my liking. Was easier than Ulduar so Ulduar was ABANDONED. ICC. Again, as I said, was good... untill it was out for five months. Than it was getting boring. 1 year of ICC only was ugh.
Badge system was crap. If they kept heroism from heroics and 10 man Naxx, EoE and Sarth. Valor from 25 man Naxx, EoE and Sarth and random heroic in small amount. Conquest from Ulduar. Triumph from TotC and Frost from ICC only. Then it'd be fine.
But they chose the "everyone should see everything" demographic which I didn't like. I can't count how many heroics, which were just as easy as the rest of the expansion besides ICC 5 mans, were I encountered a person in the same gear as me and same spec and class doing LESS dps. I got my T9 from raiding TotC only. I didn't do the daily heroics. Same with T10. Too many noobs were getting high-end gear. They went into a raid, I.E ICC, couldn't do it and complained it was too hard when it was fine.
I ended my sub in wrath say 5 times. Came back for each major patch to try the raid. Stayed till TotC, raided that place a few times to get T9 then ended sub. ICC came out, came back to get T10 and saw new expansion on horizon and stayed. Stupid idea on my part. RS came out 3 months before Cata and wasn't enough for me.
Now, in the stream of bad in Wrath, they did do one thing right. Hard modes. I loved the way they did hard modes. I.E Sartharion 3D, Flame Leviathan 1-4 tower, Firefighter... deffinantly firefighter. Best hard mode ever... and Yogg 0-3 watchers. Algalon as well. When they introduced Heroic 10 man and 25 and stopped doing Hardmodes, I was angered. Main reason I also didn't like Wrath.
(Bolded for emphasis that I didn't hate wrath entirely)
Cata, I came back for this expansion and am pleased. The badge system was cleaned up a lot. If they stop giving T11 or soon T12 from JP, I'd be happier. Questing was more story lined and felt like you were doing something which I enjoyed. The raids were once again hard. Heroics took more than 15 min in general. I admit, there is some things in Cata I don't like. The trollroics for example. I don't like them. Ruined two perfect raids. But it at least wasn't like the Trial 5 man that gave better gear than ulduar at times even though lower ilevel. The world needed a make over. I'm glad they changed it. Archaeology is nice for BoAs. The new areas are nice. I can't complain much.
