Will also point out, since I just remembered, I'm fairly sure warriors used leather before armor specialization. Seems like a good example of goal (dps) > survivability.

I still prefer 12% situational survivability over maybe 100 extra mana, a sliver of crit/spirit/haste/mastery.
Whilst the minor increase in stats is going to be less situationally useful, the large increase in armor is less so but much more noticeable when it comes into play. Which I admit is rarely. But still incredibly important when, for example, learning a boss. When you don't know 100% what will happen. When the tank misses an add. When you stand in the physical-damage-area for too long. When Shannox throws his dog at you.
It's also kind of aesthetically important. I suppose I say this as a roleplayer, but I wouldn't feel right, or comfortable, raiding with my plated-cleric, without her shield. :( Shields are sexy!

Idea: Use the off-hand for general use. Switch to a shield when you know there's incoming physical damage.
Off-hand slot is changeable in combat isn't it?
Also: Clerics don't use shields >.>

I still would use my 359 Elementium Stormshield with over goblet because of the armor.
Would you? Would you really?
Would also like to know why.
There are so many times when im pugging and the tank misses some scouts or a straglers come and attacks me. I know for a fact that if i had my Priest or Druid i would have died for sure. But yet with my Pali i still have half plenty of life left after a bad pull..

How can you prove it was the bonus armor?

So wait... you'd rather trade upgrades to your heals based on the slight chance that you
might
take damage in a fight and conjecture that it's the armor that saves you?
i haz confuzzled.

Quite a nice write-up hat, just wanted to point out that Blessed Life isn't entirely useless, I, personally even use it in my PvE spec, since there are quite a few things throw around that proc it. I knew there was a list of it somewhere for t11 content but I have no idea where anymore. Either way, I notice the free HoPo popping up quite regularly during FL raids.
I use that talent too. Just one point is more than adequate. I love it!

I'm pretty certain they use mail, just like Paladins, before level 40. Unless there isn't a better mail alternative. I used plenty of cloth on my Paladin for his Holy spec on the way up.

Good idere! Many people (outside warriors) don't often switch up their weapons. But it's still something you can do. You can switch up relics too. This used to be a very useful (but often little known) ability, when relics actually had different effects or procs, instead of being "stat sticks".

Towards the end of WotLK fury warriors used leather since the stats were better if I recall correctly.
You could macro taunt with shield and healing cooldowns with off-hand if you really wanted. Never heard of warrior wep switching, I only ever saw rogues.

I see what you're saying now. And yes, my Shammy used cloth bracers forever, and some leather items to boot.
But a warrior using leather? Was it agility-leather? And, why? Because agility contributes to both attack power (less than STR) and to crit?
As far as switching goes, they switch to a 1H/shield combo for things like Shield Bash and Spell Reflect, I believe. More of a PvP thing.

Leather gave AP almost equal to STR from plate. It came with AGI for crit, other secondary stats (more crit), and most importantly, ArPen.
What other leather is there? Spirit leather? >_>

Well, back in Wrath there were some leather BiS pieces for Ret as well. I think there was like a belt and something else that were leather, because of the AP bonus and the insane crit you'd get from them.

I remember at one point, my Frost DK's BIS gear was 50% leather.

Really? I find that odd. If anything, I would've expected blood to use leather.

From what I can recall, warrior BiS at the end of wrath included the 277 leather bracers from saurfang, the 277 gloves from Blood Prince Council (?), the leather belt from Putricide and (pre-Halion) the 277 leather boots from Marrowgar. Oh, and the agility cloak from Gunship.
