Part of being a Christian, a true Christian, is accepting of what God says.
You can say that but what it most ultimately boils down to is accepting your own interpretation of what he says.

Unfortunately, it is unavoidable to understand the words the way that you understand them, and therefore risk misunderstanding. The very best I can offer is to read the words in the Greek (New Testament) or Hebrew (Old Testament), take into context who wrote it, who it was written to, when it was written, why it was written, and its relation to the rest of the Bible. I try to understand it as best as I can in the way it was originally supposed to be understood. I don't take it literally if, to the best of my knowledge, it wasn't meant to be taken literally. However, I do take it literally when I have no indication it is meant otherwise.
I also understand that these words were His chosen method of communication with me. While it is possible to take the words out of context, an omnipotent being specifically used this venue to communicate with me. That means, in the very least, the words have a meaning, and that meaning is discernible.

please explain what that means.
Jesus is explaining that He is the way to heaven, the true way, and that eternal life is in heaven with God, but that it can't be achieved any other way than following Jesus' teachings.

You are quoting something from a book written 2000 years ago? :D
Seems legit.
Not

Sure we can all write down fancy words trying to explain how everything was created and if we exist.
The truth is that we will never know how we got created and what this world is, i'm an atheist and I don't believe in God, but I will never know.
Nobody alive today will ever know the truth, makes me both sad and happy. What wonders can we not see? It's amazing if you think about it...
You can all sit and discuss forever but the truth is, nobody knows...
Religion only help people who "need" to know, they can't embrace the fact that we will never know.
That's a pretty sad way to look at it - we've come a long way in the last few years, and we know a lot more of how the universe was created now than we did in year 1911, for example. Saying that we will never know is... stupid, to be frank, since many people have made it their lives' tasks to find know, and determination takes you a long way.
We that are alive now will never know, future generations will know.
We could find the secret of eternal life in the next decade
;)
Kinda doubt that, maybe in like 200 years.

That a book was written long ago does not change the meaning of the words written in it, to be honest. If I write down that the Earth circles around the Sun, that won't change in two thousand years.

NotWhy are you so quick to toss out something just because it was written long ago? Do we now know so much more that we are right and they were wrong, simply because we have more recent information? It is true that we have gained knowledge through time and scientific theory, but only foolish pride is unwilling to consider something based solely on its age.

I remember once when I was young, our teacher formed a ring with everyone, and then the teacher would tell something to one child and he would pass it on until it reached the teacher, it ended with something completely different.
That shows how information can get corrupt and people think it was something else, this may have happened with the bible. And if i remember correctly, people that wrote the bible didn't know jesus in person and witnessed what happened.
I'm also 100% sure there is no other evidence for the existence of god except the bible. And if you say that god has "spoken" to you, that's just your fantasy, if you want something hard enough, you will get it even though it's in your brain.
And maybe when they printed new bibles, something got corrupt and not all information got through. There are so many sources of error with the bible.

Although, whispering a sentence to the next person is vastly different from copying a text and updating the grammar and spelling. Besides, I believe that translators have been very careful when updating the Bible to make sure no problems arise.

The Bible wasn't passed down through a long game of telephone, but was written down, and the words were kept until the temple was burned in... err... I think 70 something AD. At that point, there were many many copies of it, most all of which corroborate with the others. That shows how information can get corrupt and people think it was something else, this may have happened with the bible. And if i remember correctly, people that wrote the bible didn't know jesus in person and witnessed what happened. You are close to being right here. Nothing from the Bible was written during Jesus' life. That's true. However, much of it, especially the works by Luke were written by the people who saw it. It would be like sitting down after your friend dies and writing down what he said and what he did. It's a biography by a first hand account. And if you say that god has "spoken" to you, that's just your fantasyGod has never spoken to me directly, and the Bible indicates that he is done working directly like that for this age. However, God communicates with us, particuarly through the written word, which has direct relation to the way we live our lives. That, to me, is just as powerful as spoken words.
And maybe when they printed new bibles, something got corrupt and not all information got through. There are so many sources of error with the bible.Unfortunately, you are very right, here. Going back to the original Hebrew and Greek texts shows deficits in many modern translations. Some translations are better than others. The King James Version, for example, is difficult to understand. The Living Bible actually changes certain words out for other words that sound better, but change the meaning. The Bible that I use, which is very easy to understand, but stays to the original meaning as much as possible is the New American Standard Version. The Revised Standard Version is my second choice. However, none of them compare with looking up which words were used originally and what those words meant. Luckily, we know what those words were because many of the texts from the first century AD survived. The Hebrew Bible has had so many writings and re writings from its original writing, and they are all identical, it is difficult to say that somehow they ALL got corrupted, and ALL got corrupted in the same way.
The Bible is not complete, however it has retained its complete meaning. For instance, the word "Jehovah" is the name of God used in the Bible, however, that is an Anglicized version of "Yahweh", which is a pronunciation of the tetragramatron, which is just 4 unpronounceable consonants. The name of God was made unpronounceable when it was written to make sure it wasn't used in vein. The actual pronunciation has been lost in time, since it wasn't written down. Therefore, based on that, we don't have the complete words of God. However, we know that the word that was used there was meant to signify "God". Thus, the meaning is retained.
It is very easy to say "It's too old to be accurate", but what you are forgetting was there were THOUSANDS of people keeping the texts, in fact, they were keeping them religiously (pun intended).

Still, you can't be 100 % sure there is a God.
Didn't the bible say that the earth was the center of everything? Even the sun orbits the Earth.
It's still 2000 years since it was written. How do we know that it's not just full of bollocks?
And if we had a god, wouldn't he want to show that he still exists? I mean, one book in like 13 billion years is very little. If I "was" God, I would really want to show them to obey me and to let them know I exist, It's kind of retarded that we get the !@#$ if Eva ate the apple and doomed all mankind.
Not like everyone would take an apple if we knew the consequenses.

Still even though your not whispering in other ears, it's still the same concept, maybe someone heard wrong and wrote something else then what he said. Humans can be very misunderstanding sometimes, and write something completely different.
If you say your 100% sure there is a god, you are either completely brainwashed or stupid.

I was going to answer, but Samerius seems to be a little too closed minded and rude to bother commenting.
I am a Christian, I believe God speaks in modern times. I also believe in science. One needs both, imo, to truly progress. Having one without the other is only half of the world Obviously, you can believe what you want, but ridiculing others for their beliefs is rude and uncalled for.

It's the truth.
But ok, believe in something that doesn't exist. Makes as much sense as believing in unicorns, but hey, God is real so it's not the same thing, because unicorns don't exist.
If I really want unicorns to exist I can get them to exist, exist in my head.
Christians is a prime example. Fascinating, it's like watching animals obeying their owner.
You call me close minded? You are close minded.
The funny part is that you can't write that you don't know, in the end, nobody knows.
You can start writing walls of text with content from the bible, but you will never know. You really need to fill the "pit" of not knowing with lies, so many lies.
