Imagine what kind of reception someone would get if they were to have Christian views, but take your tone: There is a God, and whoever doesn't believe it is really stupid and going to Hell.Someone, taking that tone, may even get banned from wowhead. It is socially unacceptable to be a pushy Christian, but a pushy Atheist is accepted. I dislike the double standard.
As Funden said, it depends on where you are. I grew up more or less an atheist in the Bible Belt, you can imagine what that was like.

I respect other people, seems like I don't do it here. But I do.
I understand why you believe in God, but it just seems so stupid in my eyes.
Maybe it is because I wasn't raised as a catholic or something else, but I can't just sit here all quiet and not write at all.
I stand up for my beliefs and as much as I respect other beliefs, I don't like them. I'm not close-minded, all your arguments just doesn't work on me.

That's fine, but insulting others and telling them flat out that they are wrong is NOT. It's your right to believe what you want and to share that, but please, tact. It's other people that you are talking to, people who are just as intelligent and good as you are, but who have different views. It's unfair to call anyone's view stupid and false.

Depends on where you are. There's some places where not only is that acceptable, it's encouraged.
E: And I do believe we should call the mods in on this one.
I'm just saying what I think, if you don't like it, dont read it

This Wowhead. There are rules. I suggest you read them.

When you can't handle it, call the mods. It's ok.

Against which rules? What rules am I breaking? I didn't see which ones I broke.

I don't know about mods... I'm not offended... I'm not trying to get my arguments to "work" on anybody. I am very certain people are stubbornly set on what they believe. I also think there are probably people reading this who aren't commenting. I'm participating for their benefit.

What you're doing can easily be construed as flaming. Religious threads are heavily moderated, and posts of the kind you have been making are often the reasons that past threads have been locked and users reprimanded and/or banned.

Since when is writing my honest opinion considered as "flaming", I'm not flaming.

This thread hasn't devolved into flames. I think that most of wowhead is pretty fireproof. It's been so burned before in the past that we know how to temper the heat pretty well. However, calling people "stupid", without reason, other than your opinion, is flaming.

Having an opinion or disagreeing with someone else is perfectly fine, but calling someone "brainwashed or stupid" is not okay. Please be more respectful towards other users and their beliefs.

Yes, I might have over-exaggerated that. But funden called me close-minded, isn't that the same thing as flaming.

Hmmm... it's a direct questioning of your character, but it isn't an insult. Instead of becoming defensive, take his words with some introspective thought.

In case you didn't notice, afterwards I took you at face value and attempted to reason with you and talk things out. It was my fault that I called you closeminded first, but it was my first impression of you. As you said: Since when is writing my honest opinion considered as "flaming", I'm not flaming.

We're all stupid and brainwashed and closed-minded, that's what make the world such an interesting place to live! How boring it would be if there were 7 billion clones of me walking around!

My 1st language is not English and I live in Sweden, and we have a very different culture + the fact that I'm much younger than you two are (or at least I think) that's maybe why my "attitude" is bad, sorry if you thought that I was behaving bad, and I can go a little out of hand calling people things. But don't take it personally.

Again, it's fine. You have the right to your beliefs. However, shoving them at people and insults are not okay. *shrug*
So yeah, it was slightly hypocritical of me to call you close minded as we started. For that, I'm sorry.

I grew up more or less an atheist in the Bible Belt, you can imagine what that was like.I'm very familiar with the "Bible Belt", having lived there a number of years. I can say with a great certainty that a large number of the population there are atheists. While there are some isolated circumstances of religious discrimination, the vast majority of people don't care what your religion is, especially in this day in age. Things may have been different if you were born before 1950. I'm not sure how old you are.
I also find it interesting that you would characterize yourself in such a way. You "grew up an atheist". It took me all of my childhood, and a portion of my adulthood, to really get grounded in my religion. Children are not atheists, or catholic, or Christian, or anything else, on their own. Children are children and generally don't care about all that unless they are told what to think by adults. They 'wonder' about such things, but children don't generally self classify without outside influence. I'm not saying it is impossible to "grow up as x religion", but it sounds almost like a racial characterization. Someone can "grow up as a black person in a white community", because a person is born with their skin tone. That doesn't develop over time. Are you saying you were born an atheist, and atheism was inherent in you, instead of a developing thought process over a number of years?
I would find it very odd for people to look at a 10 year old in the grocery store and spite him because... "see that kid over there? yeah. he's an atheist". That just doesn't make sense in my mind.
