As Freddy has gone up against Ash, the Deadites/Necronomicon, Jason, and a large variety of other supernatural, preternatural, and extraterrestrial enemies....and he still keeps coming back, I still can't see the Slenderman winning the fight.
Essentially, the current thoughts of the Slenderman among the Fear Mythos is that HE is the "tip of the iceberg" for a much, much larger entity, and that the HIS form is the only one that we can comprehend. HIS true form would shatter the earth and drive humanity insane.
Instead, HE merely appears in HIS current form because, as yet, HE does not wish to destroy the earth. It's the same with the Archangel and the Manufactured Newborn.
And people wonder why I find the Fear Mythos things so silly....

Ryja: why are you asking me this? I'm not the one that developed this theory. I'm merely pointing it out.
Adams: because you totally never see that in the animes you're always watching. *rolls eyes*

I agree it's bad, but I'm surprised you have a problem with it. This sounds like exactly the kind of stuff you're usually into...

Because you're the one I heard about it from. Not blaming you, just saying I think it's kind of lame.

Gotcha. I also tend to agree, since stuff like that generally comes from the people who try to turn the Fears into super sayain combat gods.

At least it makes more sense 90% of the times in the animes that do things like that.

I like Legends, Urban Myths, and other things like that...but the Fear Mythos? No draw at all to me, but that might be because of the fact that to my mind, they are all false, since they were created by man.

Seriously, why do people feel the need to &*!@ up decent horror? Slenderman being some weird, ambiguous monster stalking around the woods was what made him so scary. Turning him into some big world ending is just fanboys having a wank fest. No different than turning Jason Voorhes into the Terminator.
I'm a bit late to the party, but this. so much this.
Ever since it became mainstream to be scared of slendy (looking at you, slender), it's just gone downhill, IMO.
Anyway, in light of the early slenderman being just an eerie entity as opposed to being the harbinger of the giant cosmic horror space flea, it would be hard to say who would win in a fight if he and freddy were to have a go at it.
Freddy, from what little I remember from the movies, exists almost exclusively in the dream world and has some extent of control from there to the real world, and no matter whether or not you off him in there or in the real world he just seems to come back and kill some more. Considering this and all the other guys he's fought like Jason, etc. and lived, I'm putting my vote for freddy.
tl;dr : i vote freddy.
