it's a fallacy to say that they have a non-Scandinavian skin tone or name and therefore must be immigrants. Their parents may be from the Middle East or beyond, or their grandparents, but that does not change their skin tone.
Isn't immigrant children immigrants? A person comes to another country, sayin something like - I have problems, can I stay for a while? And after that while their children are born and they say "We are not immigrants, we were born here and this is our home as much as it is yours." Doesn't it sound wrong? It surely would be wrong if it happened in your home. So I say immigrancy is inherited.
Did you
really
just use an analogy of a WoW battleground to describe the systematic murder of at least 85 people?
Yes. Might also say I cited a comment from Anders' thread
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/927077585?page=1
Original in russian says:
нипаиграть ему теперь, зато какое БГ ирл отыграл лол
which could be translated like:
he won't be playing now, but what a BG IRL he did play
I may tell that this similarity was also noticed by another person in that thread:
ffs blizz, nerf mages, 1 guy solos 100+ ppl and you dont do !@#$ about it?

very definition
of an immigrant is someone who leaves one country to settle permanently in another. Furthermore, you're confusing immigrants for asylum seekers and refugees. Not all people who emigrate do so for fear of persecution.

And you don't think that's insensitive at all, considering that we're talking about a
real life massacre
?

I think I should introduce you to the term
black comedy
. Pretty amazing that you are not familiar with the concept at all.

I am, but that doesn't make it any less insensitive considering the subject.

It may be evil, but it's inevitable. Just look at Japan and all the earthquake jokes.

Relative. He seems insensitive from your PoW and you seem overly sensitive from his. I would say he is just not very smart. With black comedy, one needs to be careful. It is an obscure type of humour and does not get tolerated well everywhere. That's it, guy is dumb. No need to play the "you are a monster" card.

I didn't pull the 'you are a monster card'. My point is that there's such a thing as tact.

Solved.
Sorry, I did not know about the sensitivity of people around here. I really thought wow players are mostly into moderately unsensitive jokes as my friends are. And when I found out that you are more sensitive, what should I have done? Say "No, I did not use the analogy"? I did use it so my answer to "did you?" question could only be "yes". Sorry.
As to my sensitivity and tact - You can use google translate to find out what was said by the russian commentator and you would see that I was sensitive enough to leave out the most unsesnsitive part of it.
I hope this is it. I just made a comment on the topic and I think that one page of posts about me will be enough, we should get back on the main topic.

So, what begins now?
Mass hate and prejudice towards Christians like America to Muslims after 9/11?
Post by

It's a domestic political attack, not an international one by overseas terrorist organisations. I can't see the reaction being anywhere near as extreme, from any side.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

Just a comment on the early prejudice / assumptions made by users crying "DAMN MUSLIMS!" then getting slapped in the face by an extremist Christian. NO WAI.

It's understandable though, a Jihadist terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack. Now it's just race-related, not religious.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Squishalot##DELIM##

So it's gone from religious intolerance to racism? What race is hated in Norway exactly?

Same thing as the races that are "hated" in most other countries in the world - anyone not from that country. It seems to be more an anti-government policy action (on migration, possibly?), rather than a specific targeting of a group.

Racism and intolerance makes me so angry. I want to punch every racist in the face.
I am so close to setting up a non-profit organization to quash racism and racialism in my own country.
Some people don't realise that they could have been a result of a 'cosmic lottery'; what if they were born in Sudan or Ethiopia or Algeria or Bangladesh?
Take a white baby born in Australia, and a black baby born in Sudan.
One will inevitably live a cushy life, with very little risk. The other will live a life of struggle and ostracization. Both will grow up with different cultures and values, and opportunities.
Why the hell is one treated worse by people of other cultures?
Post by
Squishalot
That's not an entirely fair representation, Cambo. The white baby will find it harder to grow up in the Middle East, in Africa, in South America. The black baby will find it harder to grow up in the US, the UK, Australia, etc..
The thing is, in 'white' countries, we find it easier to see examples of non-white people being discriminated against. However, you need to acknowledge that discrimination isn't single directional.

I think that whites treat others differently because we still feel we live better than them, and they are weird and backwards.
'Others' treat whites with suspicion because of our tendency to be contemptuous.
These are generalisations of course, and I do feel that racism and racialism is represented by a minority of humanity.
If you travel to many Pacific Islands (such as Samoa), european people are treated like royalty.
I do think it is a major concern for the future of international relations, and that if there is to be any reconciliation then the Western/European world needs to extend the hand of friendship first.

While those might be true generalizations, I think if we go deeper we can see a convergence. Ultimately it boils down to not understanding, as I see it. We see actions, and automatically judge those actions according to our own understanding. But when those actions derive from a completely different cultural, social, and racial viewpoint, our mind has a hard time grasping the significance of those actions.
