The argument isn't about it being possible or not, as I think that's what the OP means. It is possible, and can be pulled off with sufficient gear and experience. Remember Enhancement Shaman in Wrath? I had one I actually healed heroics with, flawlessly, while doing quite decent damage as well.
Because one class healing while DPS'ing is totally the same as a completely different class with a different basis that wears different armor doing something completely different.
Also, in the end of wotlk, I ran heroics as prot warr in my pvprot set(yay arpcap) with a ret pala as healer. Does that mean that prot warriors in dps gear are viable tanks? No, it means that wotlk heroics were F*CKING easy by the end of 3.3.3

No doubt that will happen again, and most probably by the next patch you could tank heroics as unholy or frost, given a high enough gear level.

I know it was dirt easy. But the difference in gear is greater between what an enhancement shaman should use for dps and healing, than a Death Knight needs for dps'ing or tanking, even back then.
But for arguments sake, I'll take another case. Druids, ferals, to be exact. They can, technically, shift from cat form to bear form, and tank, as they have a flexible enough talent tree to get mostly everything, without skipping anything vital to either role. They both value agility, and to a certain extent, mastery, quite high. What's the issue? The lack of dodge. For that reason alone, most guilds wouldn't allow a cat druid to tank. And neither should they.
Now, if a simple lack of dodge is enough to get a druid excluded from a tank spot, it seems unlikely to me that anyone in their right mind would allow a dual wielding blood death knight the same spot. Raids are all about performance. If you are purposely gimping yourself, you shouldn't be playing with other players. Go play Diablo or something.

Might as well be. You can solo anything in that game, and even though adding more players ups the difficulty, it doesn't become sufficiently difficult that a competent player can't solo it anyway. That's my point: Even in a team, just because
you
suck, the rest can still pull through. That doesn't apply to WoW.
That, and Diablo is another Blizzard game I assumed everyone is familiar with. Could probably have found a more suitable comparision, but w/e.
