It's called the
advanced
guide. It assumes you know a couple things, like that Bloodshields stack,
It didn't used to stack before last patch, and i read forums and guides online about my class often. So if i haven't heard of it yet, I'm pretty sure its not common knowledge. It should be in your guide.
EJ doesn't mention it in their DK tanking section, and a site they link to specifically states that it doesn't stack. So I'm sure I'm not the only one that hasn't realized the change yet.
EDIT: Also if you goto the stickies on this forum, they have 3 links to DK tanking threads. One is before blood shield stacking was possible, one is about pulling, and the third is yours which you don't mention is because you think it's common knowledge.
So if the DK wowhead forum doesn't mention it, and EJ doesn't mention it, and sites EJ links to either don't mention it or specifically says you cant stack them. How exactly does it become common knowledge?

You're right Orranis. It's been live for 5 months, it should be as common knowledge as the fact that death strike uses a frost and unholy rune even though it's never talked about, and is only briefly mentioned in a 1 liner bullet on the EJ website. Even though proper rune usage is extensively talked about and the cost of DS is stated in the in game tooltip.
But your right. Don't mention it in the 1 guide listed in the sticky on the wowhead DK forum that both discusses DS usage and is written since the blood shield stacking has been patched. And make sure you bash anyone who doesn't know about it yet.

What do you want? Bold thirty font sized text?
There. I put it in there. Just for you.
I don't like being told that I'm wrong and that I've somehow failed to do something due to another's lack of observation. It was in the patch notes, it was on Wowhead, it was on Elitest Jerks (despite you making a rather big deal that it wasn't.)

One thing though: the damage taken part takes into account spelldamage aswell.

We can't be hit with a crit or crushing blow anymore
We can be crit if we want to. Just /sit (default key is X).
Again i have no intention of derailing it offtopic. Look how much you learned from these topics. May not know this trick (only real benefit for rage based tanks, though).

And you guys dare to call me anoying.
I said this because he said it wasn't mentioned on Elitest Jerks, when it was indeed, but apparently the text wasn't big enough for him to read it.
Looking at the proc on hit from this perspective, after you actually get close enough to use a couple of DSes on the adds you kiting, this is exact moment when you want the mastery proc and chances are it occurs in this moment. You dont want mastery proc going on being hit, due to fact that you will be randomly hit by fastest mobs several times, while you cant hit them back. So in fact i find the proc on hitting a foe a good synergy with DS/Blood shield mechanics. What do you think?
I never really considered it, but at the same time, for add tanking avoidance>mastery specifically for the reasons you mentioned. I think it's a rock and a hard place situation. I'd say the finger for tanking things like Maloriak adds. You have to remember that it's still a 10% proc chance, and while this is insignificant on a boss fight, if you're only pausing to DS briefly, you might not proc it.

ur doing it wrong
(dk's aren't my main ... maybe 2 hours played every two weeks... and I knew....)

Indeed. Your math previously doesn't take into acound things like Bloodletting from the second boss in ZG. He can use that on you and still attack you at the same time, thus increasing your damage taken and thus healing done beyond what you tried to map out.
Napkin Math is still Napkin Math.

It was better without including magic damage, so now its just that much better. It doesn't change the conclusion.
