no
yes
yes
(I'll elaborate later - raid time now)
Okay, so debuffs on the boss (as opposed to buffs on you)
do
affect all damage that occurs after the application. Thus, in your second example the last two ticks of the BoD are increased.
With this rule in mind it makes sense that a Shadow Bolt cast and followed immediately by a CoE before the bolt lands would affect the damage. However nukes behave slightly differently in that their damage is calculated on cast completion so flight time has no effect.
Your third scenario is an example of a buff on you. Buffs to the caster have an effect on DoT spells even after the buff falls off since the damage of the entire DoT is calculated on cast not on tick.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

OK, so simmed with the added action
actions+=/drain_life,if=buff.demon_soul_felhunter.up
added before Shadow Bolt's action we get a small loss in overall DPS (0.17%) and we see that Drain Life (only used during Demon Soul) has a DPET of 8222 compared to 8610 for SB. This is done using my own character that has more Mastery than the T11 BiS (which shows similar results) so I wouldn't expect to see Mastery play a large role in altering this result.
Well comparing the DPET isn't that meaningful because of the 30% Felhunter dps buff which should be considered. Of course the 0.17% is correct but that's like 40-45 dps. I wonder if there is a way (in SimCraft) to find out your self-healing per second usually, and how much more you do when using Drain Life during Demon Soul. It might be useful to adjust Demon Soul usage to short phases of high damage taken on all raid members to help out the healers without dropping a significant amount in dps? (40dps, for someone who does 20k+)
I tried checking a few Logs but the Haunt healing is usually not displayed correctly. I suppose the average healing on an afflock is gonna be around 1.5-2.5k HPS but when using Drain Life that's gonna be boosted by another 1-2k, most likely worth the dps loss on healing intensive fights/phases.

The healing from Drain Life is not based around damage done. So that doesn't really matter. Also the damage increase is 20%.

It's 30% more damage for each dot and drain life counts as that.
Shadow Bite
Also yes the healing done is % of life but it's most likely not worth using
outside of
because then it would be a more significant dps loss, during Demon Soul there still is a dps loss but due to the 20% periodic dmg buff it's way smaller.

Well, let's remember that an additional 30% increase to that ability is no the same as a 30% increase.
If something does 10 damage and you usually have 3 x 30% increases giving you a total of 19 damage then you get a buff that gives an extra 30%, up to 22. This is around a 15% increase to his main ability but that's not actually all his damage.
Either way, using DL when your healers need you to help with healing can be a useful thing to be able to do but I would never advise saving Demon Soul for specific moments. Losing potential uptime on DS would likely do more to harm the mitigation to damage loss that you're attempting.

Are you talking about guardian pets?
Normal pets don't take their target from your Bane only the Doomguard and Infernal do. Since the DG is a ranged pet I would imagine you could use him to DPS the boss though I haven't tried it myself.

The relative damage of spells is often different at lower levels than it ends up at 85. This is essentially an end-game guide and the further you are from max level, the less the advice will apply.
At 85 RoF is a relatively weak spell. It's the best spell for Destruction to use on large numbers of mobs but I would suggest you would need more than three mobs for it to be effective.
If it's stronger at 70 then that's cool but enjoy it while it lasts ^_^
As for why it's not mentioned much, you noticed that it's named as Destro's AoE spell. Beyond that there's not much to say about it really.

The advice has always been to pop guardians after haste buffs so perhaps I'm assuming and I've missed a change in recent patches. Bear with me while I look for some evidence either way.
edit:
Okay so I've found enough to convince me that you're right and I'll go and change the guide entry. Thanks for letting me know about it.
I wonder if you have any solid source for this? I found various discussions and enough corroboration to convince me that it's true but nothing I'd call really solid.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

This thread isn't a good place to talk about specifics. Specific encounters may mean that the advice changes and specific logs are never good to spend too much time on because RNG can make strange things happen in single instances.
Generally speaking, BoD
is
the best bane to use unless you need to DoT up multiple targets (it can only be placed on one target at a time).
Also, DoTs can't be rolled at all anymore. When you recast/refresh them they use current stats.
That log doesn't look so very out of the ordinary to me but maybe the Firelands tactics thread would be a good place to get some opinions on it?

Proper \ tags have been added (instead of the messy workaround I was using)
If anyone reads through and sees that I've used an abbreviation or acronym that isn't tagged and explained further, please let me know.

I went through all of them and did actually find that the glossary link didn't work so I've fixed that but if more links than that aren't working for you then I'm not sure what's going on. Could you specify one that doesn't work so I can see what I can do with that one.
