I don't really have a strong opinion. I guess by default male, but I found out a while back that most people apparently identify with their gender; like, if you get the pronouns or honorifics wrong, they are offended and feel bad. That's crazy.
I am also nature's tranny magnet; I know a ludicrous number of transgendered people, all by sheer coincidence. (I wouldn't even TRY to guess the statistical chances; way, way, under one in ten billion for this large a set.)

You never know... I'd like to hear from one or two of them, if they'd be cool with outing themselves.
Maybe one or two others... but not four. Especially given the overall maturity levels of this community. I'm going to say it's skewed.
For a start, I didn't know it was even possible to go F2M.

Male here.
I ran across a news article from a rather . . . 'out there' psychologist who posited that there are actually nine different genders in the human race. I'll see if I can find it, it was an interesting read.

Nine! Holy #$%^...perhaps we're all homosexual somehow.

This isn't quite the same article
, but it's the same idea.
I'm fairly sure the classes were something like:
Masculine male
Masculine female
Gender neutral
Feminine male
Feminine female
Transgender male-to-female
Transgender female-to-male
Eunuch/Hijra
Hermaphrodite
Basically it was a definition of gender based on both physical sexual characteristics
and
self-perception/behavioral characteristics.

Oh...so, basically just trying to make the obvious stand as some kind of scientific evidence of gender. Not so interesting...

Ok... but if we look at it in a scientific way, there is no gender neutral.

Well if Asexual can be a classification for a human, why not gender neutral?

Well, if you really look at the root of it, there are only three possible:
Male
Female
Hermaphrodite (which still favor certain traits either male or female, even though they have both parts. e.g. a hermaphrodite that can grow a beard and doesn't have breasts, or one that can't and does have breasts.)
What I'm trying to say, is sexual preference doesn't
really
change your gender. Even after surgery, you will still have male or female DNA.

Is something funny? If there's something funny I think you should share it with the whole class! Go on!

Female => Male really doesn't bother me much at all. I guess because a straight guy can have guy friends, girl friends, and then girl friends which he is sexually attracted to, so a female who changed themselves to a man simply makes the transition from "girl friend" to "guy friend". The Male=>Female thing is just awkward... a person who is genetically a man hitting on another man... instinctively that is "gay", and while I'm completely fine with two people with mutual gay attraction being together, I don't like the idea of a person who is essentially "gay" hitting on a straight person. That's just harassment.
It is the same sort of logic why guys are comfortable with lesbians, but not comfortable with gay guys. It just makes straight guys feel a little uneasy sometimes. At least, unless it is a gay guy who is already a couple with another gay guy. Then that's perfectly alright.

Oh, nothing at all. "Looking at the root of it" is the best way to determine gender.
If it has a root, it's male...

If only you weren't representing the average viewpoint.
I'd argue, but really, there's no point.

I'm saying that your opinion is hardly favorable from the viewpoint of a transwoman. I'm also saying that your opinion is one held by the majority of people.

A transgendered person is not a homosexual person who switches their sex so that they can engage in heterosexual intercourse with the sex they desire.
A transgendered person is literally a man trapped in a woman's body - or vice versa.
Before being cleared for gender reassignment surgery, the individual goes through a
very
thorough psychological evaluation; at the end of that evaluation (which can sometimes take a year or more), the psychiatrist/therapist determines that from a psychological perspective, the transgendered person is literally a woman, but in a male body.
That may not clear anything up. Here's what it boils down to - and I'm really not trying to offend here: You lay out a premise under which you claim to have no problem with gay men, but then turn around and also detail that a woman who becomes a man is 'okay', but a man who becomes a woman is 'creepy'. Why? A woman who becomes a man
is going to sleep with women
- meaning that it's still going to lead to same-sex intercourse.
Which leads to an assumption that while you claim to be okay with gay men, you're still having a knee-jerk reaction at some level against two men having sexual relations. Otherwise, you'd have the same sort of problem with F2M - after all, it's a woman having sex with a (possibly heterosexual) woman. There's no difference.
Still not sure I'm making this clear, but am I expounding at all on what you mean, ACrowbar?
