I know it is.
The only quote he linked from there was essentially what I was saying.
Right, I was agreeing.
Ah, misunderstood. Apologies.

No biggie, you were getting agitated, to put it mildly. :P

That's the understatement of the day.

Factually wrong. Based on logic or science or whatever other evidence can be provided.
Because you've demonstrated that they are factually wrong, how exactly?

Because science says so; and so do all the other

Atheists.

What part of science proves that:
anyone who isn't a Christian is (not) wrong and is (not) damned to eternity in Hell and should (not) be "taught" the error of their ways at every opportunity
Adams, you should know better than that.

Oh pft, I should've recognised that. Never mind. I'll leave it up there for chaos though, since that's inevitably going to be the actual reply lol.

Sorry to stir up something that seems to have died down (i read every post in the entire thread), but i have a question for any theist who has responded in this thread.
If someone could prove there was no God, that everything in the bible was written (and thought up) by man, and that the earth was created billions of years ago, etc. Would you renounce your religion? or would you say they are wrong, and continue to believe as you did before you knew what they knew.
also, saying that would/will never happen is not a satisfactory answer.

I would; my faith is my own, and no one can shatter it. I could care less if every scientific source on the planet could prove one hundred percent that something I believe isn't true. That wouldn't matter to me; people could call me crazy or insane, and I would continue to believe as I always have.

How can you prove that which cannot be proven?

Just the fact that god's own holy men are responsible for molesting so many young (mostly male) children just makes me absolutely sick. Apart from
NAMBLA
, I would say Christianity has the highest number of child rapists of any group out there today (this is not fact, it's a speculation). Just the fact that it is usually a homosexual act is just icing on the cake.
According to
Bishop-Accountability.org
, there have been over 6,000 priests accused of sexual abuse since the 1950's. Great spokesmen, eh? If these people were representing a company, they would have been canned a long time ago, yet, so many of these guys are still free to preach the word of their all mighty god. The one who made all this child rape possible.
Isn't it kind of funny (not 'haha' funny), that out of all the different groups of people out there, its the priests and pastors of Christianity that are so universally known for these incredibly widespread and atrocious acts?
Anyone know why that is? Anyone know why it's the men who have devoted their lives to god and spreading his good word, are the ones doing this?
The ultimate hypocrisy?
Also, I would just like to point out, that if really he is the creator of all, and if he is truly is omnipotent; god created child rape. Food for thought.

I have a feeling that many other theist's would have the same answer, and i have no problem with that. but i am curious, would you be offended if you were told that what you believed was false? and would you continue to tell people what you believed was the truth?
How can you prove that which cannot be proven?
You can't, at least not yet, we will all know when we die. This was meant as a purely hypothetical situation.

there is no way the catholic church could know these people were pedophiles before they were named priests, and considering that most of them were excomunicated when it was learned of there acts i find that as a bad argument. also, there are many pedophiles who are parts of other religions, including athieism

I don't care if they think what I believe in is a joke or stupid or what have you; it's the way I am, it makes me happy, I don't hurt anyone with it so...yeah. And no; I never tell anyone what I believe in is the ultimate truth; because it's not. There is no definitive truth out there; or at least, I've never seen one for anything that comes from religion.

True, they don't have any way of knowing, but the fact that there are
so many
specifically representing Christianity is a bit insane. Also, how many child rapists have you heard about preaching Judaism, Hindu, Islam, etc?
I know there are a lot of pedo's out there, but you would think that there would be less among the holiest men...
Out of any one group of people, there is an alarming amount MORE cases against Christian priests. Remember, there are over 6,000 documented cases since the 50's.

How many people do you hear talking about Hindu preists anyways? I would imagine that the facts are more readily available against christians then such less followed religions.
A fair point, but just the fact that they are the representatives and teachers of the religion is just... insane.

Men are ussually evil in nature, so their will be many false teachers out there bringing hypocracy. This doesn't change that christianities core values are any less pure.
I said nothing about Christian values. I am just wondering why there is such a huge concentration of child rapists among priests.

along with Moshpitt's point, pedophelia is a mental disorder that stems from the brain, there is no link to religion with it, other than that a pedophile may become a preist to gain access to children, and as long as he has not been convicted before, the church would have no way of knowing that he was a pedophile. also, the pedophile would still be a pedophile if he was not a priest.
