If there is no point in the lives we have now, then surely other organisms that sleep, eat and breed have even more %^&*tier lives then us?
If the world cared about what we were doing to it, it would fight back.

This is what we are. In fact, every living organism is a bacteria. We live in the natural, and whatever happens happens. There is no supreme high judge. Mother nature doesn't care. If she did, she would've destroyed this earth during the industrial revolution. We humans have the gene to adapt, survive, gain whatever resources needed to maximize output, and the ability to look towards the future.
If you wish to do your part to reduce your harm to the world, sell your car, live in the wild, and be one with nature. When judgement day does come, you will not feel bad about your own actions.....

I'm sure humanity will survive. I mean outright kill us, like knocking up the gravity meter by a couple thousand, or taking away oxygen so we couldn't breathe.
Which is, you know, not possible.
I see your point though

Global warming / cooling is a completely natural part of the Earth's environment. I'm sure our excessive pollution doesn't help the process any, but it's going to happen one way or the other.
Oh, I do believe we play
some
part in it. Just not the way mass-media and Tin-foils want us to believe.

Perhaps Earth is alive and is waiting for the right time...
You're right!
I believe I saw Elvis Presley walking around my house the other day, btw.

Exactly. Al Gore also invented the Internet, remember?
He also invented life, if I recall correctly.
But I think we're drifting away from the topic :p

As a French journalist said in the tv a couple of days ago "Hitler, Michael Jackson and Osama are enjoying beers in a secret underground bunker."

Really we are no worse than any other organism on the planet, we just have more power. Populations of predators do not conserve populations of prey to make sure they both don't go extinct. No, if left unchecked, they will eat themselves into extinction.
Life is a multiplication program. Through competition with other programs for resources, life has become incredibly efficient at consuming resources and multiplying. The only difference with us humans is that we're the only species on the planet with the comprehension to understand that unrestrained consumption will lead to doom. You could say that because we can understand it, we're duty-bound to relent in our consumption, but I'm afraid Mother Nature's programming is very, very difficult to overthrow.
I don't know what's going to happen in the future. Either we're going to consume all our resources and then destroy ourselves, or we will last long enough to move into space, which will mandate our switch to a more efficient use of resources. Once we're in space, our ultimate destruction will be a lot more difficult to achieve (part of why I've so big on Mars colonization: we need a backup for humanity so we can survive if Earth nukes itself to hell).
But I do not blame humanity. It's unfortunate, and lots of people should know better by now, but Humans are no more innately greedy than our fellow organisms. We just have more power to alter the planet.
