My favorite zone is Bloodmyst isle. This was one of the first zones I visited while was new to the game. I found it beautiful and breath catching. These is one of the most well designed zones imo.
My favorite zone is a little rough to narrow down. Lore has always been a major part of the game for me and I think as far as that goes it would bring it to Hellfire. Walking through the portal for the first time into Outland was a great experience. Artistically the world was amazingly well done and really set the tone that we were no longer in Azeroth. And knowing we'd get to tie the loose ends from Illidan and Kael eventually was a great motivation (regardless of how many setbacks they may have experienced :P). Though we never got a direct glimpse of Sargeras, Outland was magnificent, Hellfire especially for the first time stepping in factor. Netherstorm in a close second. On a side note Uldum has to be the worst. Not because of the art, landscape or anything like that. The Ramkahen and Neferset were great additions and it's great to finally get into that area. But the Indiana Jones references are so tiresome and grueling. We get it Blizzard, we get it.
My favorite zones are a three way tie between the Swamp of Sorrows, Ashenvale, and the Southern Barrens.I enjoy all of these zones as an Alliance member due to the fact it actually feels like we are fighting the war against the Horde. Being able to reclaim what we lose to the Horde players during the Alliance chain is great - nothing like undoing another players hard work! The Southern Barrens is tragedy upon tragedy - Hawthorne not wanting the endless cycle of war to continue, but is forced to remove Taurajo, and it going horribly wrong (from a non-strategic point of view), the Horde killing Hawthroned and blowing up Bael Modan, causing the death of Twinbeard's son, which cause the destruction of the mine. Everything Hawthorne didn't want occurs (the cycles of war and vengeance) because of his decision to destroy Taurajo. And Swamp of Sorrows is my favorite because we do a by the book destruction of Stonard. No overwhelming emotions, just the Alliance coming in and leveling the camp, taking their supplies, and letting the non-combatants go. How the Alliance in the Eastern Kingdoms should wage war against the Orcs.If I have to pick just one, It'd be Ashenvale. Just something about it, maybe all the hype about the QQ from the Alliance losing it, and then us really taking more land there, or just the fact that it's a beautiful zone.
My favorite zone would have to be all of STV. Love the quest lines in there, plus leveling my rogue was a blast ganking every alliance that crosses my path.
My favorite zone is Grizzly Hills, for one thing the name of the achievement is awesomeFo' Grizzle My Shizzle. and it has a wide variety of npc in it like some troll, human, furblog. the quests are fun(well i have done most of them 3 times on different toons) and have enjoyed doing them. What more could SpaceGoat want!
My favorite zone is probably (out of a long list of possible candidates) Feralas. I love how it feels at once secluded and expansive, with the canopy overhead and the road sloping down to the forest floor on either side. I used to spend hours fishing in the pool at the top of the Eastern Colossus while chatting with friends and guildmates.
My favorite zone actually was old Azshara, as suggested. It was a nice change of pace from the other zones with their quest nodes and travel routes... you really were exploring nature and helping people you just happened upon.
the old barrens. nothing like a zone where us old folks go to act like we're twelve.
If I had to pick my favorite zone in the world, of Warcraft, I would have to pick Nagrand. Nagrand provided schools of figluster mudfish, fel iron AND adamentite, the best quest chains in outlands plus the ring of blood, Halaa was in earshot away for pvp, rep grinding, and to tie it all together A STABLE MASTER! what more can a hunter want? Nagrand should be is the best zone.
This is probably very odd. But, my favorite place used to be Hillsbrad Foothills, before any of the expansions. When i was leveling there, with my little priest, their would always be these raids onto Tauren mill. And as i got higher, it became more and more fun to just run in and have these epic battles against the horde. We would fill up two or three fourtyman raids. It was a very intense and interesting time.
My favorite zone hands down is Hillsbrad Foothills, Tarren Mill. The reason being is because this place has a Horde and Alliance settlement near each other which means you are bound to have some player vs player action while questing for sure, This was the first place I encountered my first 1 on 1 against the opposing faction, it brings back alot of memories and for that reason it is my favorite zone, I remember getting ganked over and over by 3 red hooded figures and they would just vanish into thin air (Bloodfang Rogues) I was just amazed like "WoW! How do they do that?" my knowledge of the game was still novice at the time, the detail of the mountains, roads, trees, watch tower remains is just a wonderful thing to experience while traveling to Hillsbrad Foothills, you really get to appreciate the art and beauty of the zone since you didn't have a mount back then till you were level 40 and this area was for level 14-34.
This is an easy one for me. Years ago when I first got my new HDTV and laptop I wanted to see what playing WoW on a 42" screen would look like. I hooked up my laptop to my TV and logged on. I was in Feralas, and with how big and green and lush everything looked, it felt like I could step right into the screen and be in Feralas.Ever since my favorite zone has been Feralas.Or maybe its because I'm a tree hugging druid that drives a prius and has a battery powered lawn mower.... But who knows.
My favorite zone is Mulgore.Bloodhoof Village to be precise. If you climb to the top of the inn there's a deck there that overlooks the lake. And when it rains, it's beautiful.
Alterac mountains...i don't know i kinda like it(i kinda like the lore part about the betrayal of the alliance but sad about all those ppl that had nothing to do with their leader's decision...so it's a kind of filled with saddness)...too bad they never did anything importan in-game with it(except the Bg part)
Nagrand has my vote. I remember playing through Burning Crusade when it was first released. The zones were very hellacious, they left you with a very unsettled feeling, like there was really nothing you could do to save Outland and Azeroth from the impending assault of the Burning Legion. Then... you hit Nagrand. The music there is extremely soothing. The landscape is beautiful and green. And for once, the nervousness built up from the other zones vanished. It truly is the gem of Outland.
