My favorite zone is Nagrand, because it's just so pretty.
Sholazar Basin. The storylines are great (man, those puppymen can get right out), the setting is gorgeous, and the quests are fun (FALL DOWN AND DESPAIR PUPPYMEN AS THE SHINIES COMMAND!)
My favorite zone is definitely The Barrens. I started playing WoW in december'ish the first year it was out, and i was maybe a level 5 lol. My buddies partied up with me and gave me 1 gold piece each, and escorted me to several flight paths in azeroth. Upon first entering the barrens I immediately had "?" thunder lizards coming from across the screen to nuke me down haha. I still remember it like it was yesterday.
I have to say Mount Hyjal. I'm a nature-nerd and even a bit of druid (huge fan of Ysera and druid-lover since forever), so the perfect verdant-greens of the summit are just amazing. Take out all the Twilight HEATHENS and you have a utopian natural world, cared and tended by the aspect of dreams herself. That's why Hyjal is awesome.
My favorite zone would have to be Thousand Needles, I play a tauren and love the look and feel of a nomadic tribe out in the desert not to mention the view of the moon and stars was AMAZING on a cloudless night. The music added the picture atmosphere to tie it all together.
My favourite zone is Elwynn Forest because when I simply stand still it feels like I can smell the sent of the grass and hear the wind in the trees. And when the night hits the zone, it feels magical to be there.
My vote goes to Eastern Plaguelands back in vanilla. Death was easy to come if you weren't careful where you step and how many mobs you pull. Felt like a challenge with all the group quests.
Grizzly Hills in Northrend in my all time favorite zone. Epic redwood forest-esque feel to the place, with fantastic music, I LOVE IT! Also, there are great tensions between both factions all over the place in Grizzly Hills. Also, Arugal makes a return there thanks to the Lich King's minions, so you know great lore there as well. Grizzly Hills was just really well done.
My favourite zone right now is Vashj'ir, the place is simply beautiful. Many people dislike it for being too big and having to walk for hours to complete a few quests, but the amount of details in that zone makes the entire experience fulfilling, its not simply an underwater zone, its an Underwater World.Im really hoping that blizzard expands the zone in the upcoming patches.
For me, the best zone is certainly Vashj'ir. Blizzard made a extraordinary work because you can really feel like you're underwater when you go there. The music, the critters, the effects when you walk through the sands and the entire decoration of the map makes Vash'jir an unique experience in the World of Warcraft.
Nagrand would be my choice, that lovely colors and scenery worth more than any other zone.
Gotta be Kara! I love how dark it is, pretty dissapointed that the "dungeon" section that pictures have been released of never made it to the actual game, it looked pretty grim! LOVE IT!
Going to have to agree with Ashelia. Karazhan has been my favorite zone for a long time. It was the first raid I ever did with guild mates. We used to spend a lot of time trying to come up with "non-standard" methods for completing encounters when we were missing key elements of the "standard" strategy (CC, Interrupts, whatever). It was a blast, and I've never had so much fun raiding.
