Cops, whether they have an inferiority complex or not, are human. They appreciate humility and realness. Treat them with respect and you're much more likely to get off with a warning than anything else. I've gotten out of so many speeding tickets just for being respectful.

On that note, a "Yes, sir" or "Yes, ma'am" goes a long way for people in general.
My gf said it's weird that I say those to people. Is it? >.>

There are always other fish in the sea.
If at first you don't succeed, try again, and again, and again...
The awkward silence is a sign you should keep going.
Don't make a single Nazi joke near a german. No matter the statement, they will think you are talking to them. They will not listen when you attempt to explain otherwise, and will hate you forever.
In the event a girl tells you to stay away, you should try harder.
Restraining orders are more of a suggestion.

I am the politest man alive when it comes to police officers, and it never does anything for me.
Also, I think you meant to say superiority complex.

I think it could go either way. In the case of inferiority, they may be overcompensating. In the case of superiority, they may be exercising what they feel is their right. (:
Nevertheless, sometimes it comes down to not just doing it for them (trying to get out of the ticket), but doing it for yourself, as well. Sure it's a bit frustrating, everyone can understand that, but I'm one of those glass 3/4 full (even if it's only, technically, 1/2 full).
