They said it would be back up on Wednesday
Instead, on Wednesday they told us that private information was hacked
I'm not sure I want another fix date
Haha. That's true.

Meh, I called my bank to refuse any payments from my account unless I personally ask money from one of the branches. No problem.

I never even bought things from the Store, only Demos ( which are free anyway)
I wonder if things like this affect sales for the future Playstation 4.
I can't remember anything bad about the Playstation 1 + 2, but I was probably too young to remember many flaws with it, so long as I had Kingdom Hearts around I was happy

I was listening to some friends joke about the hacks, and for some reason all I could think was that the hackers were thinking something along the lines of:
"ALL YOUR INFORMATION ARE BELONG TO US!11!1!"

even if you buy one, you can't use it.
I wasn't aware that PS3's not connected to PSN can't play games, thanks.

I may be wrong, as it's been awhile since I helped anyone setup a PS3, but I know when you buy an Xbox, the first thing you have to do before it can do anything is update the software. Without these updates, generally the system will not allow you to do anything other than look at the menus. And then, most of the games have updates as well that are required.
But the games themselves have the updates built into them: when I put Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together into my PSP, it updated the system to the most recent one, so you don't need to connect to the internet to keep it at the most recent version.

@ chaosultimatemage, Sony and Nintendo are generally pretty good at putting software updates on their game discs. Sony doesn't specify that you require an internet connection to use a PS3, so they need to provide for those that won't have it connected to the net at all, let alone PSN.
Anyway, now that services are being restored, I see that we're being offered free games!
LittleBigPlanet is a definite for me, seeing as I don't have it yet, but does anyone have any recommendations for the other game from the list?

Infamous if you don't already have it. Those are the only two big games they're listing. The rest, I believe are just 5-10 dollar games.

So I haven't been following this whole drama because I basically only use my PS3 to stream Netflix movies, BUT!
The newest PS3 system update released when PSN was (supposedly) fixed on May 16th seems to have broken my Netflix, so now I'm a little irritated. When I try to sign into PSN, it says my password must be changed... this is probably normal given the security problems. But when I follow the password-change link, I just get the "Site Maintenance Notice" page that's been popping up for a month.
Is PSN down again or something? Also, has anyone actually redeemed the "two free games" thing yet?

I still get the server error when I try to boot up the MediaGo to add my DLC to my PSP../sigh lol.

The password change site was hacked right after the PSN came back up. As far as I know, that page is still down. Chances are someone reset your password trying to get your account. The PSN should be up, but the store is not.
Hmm, so that means that I can't change my password, and therefore can't access my account... but that "two free games" offer expires in 30 days... quite lame. Maybe they'll fix it before June 15. I would assume I could just make a new PSN account and get Netflix working... unless the "Create New Account" page is also broken.
