I have seen someone post on here with the name Elementum, but that was quite recent so it probably wasn't you.
On another note, did you take that name from the famous Oceanic raiding guild?

Have had a couple of those things given by a Dr. and psuedoephedrine in cold med before they were taken off shelves, also in some "stay awake" type pills that made me sick.

is it the additives in cigarettes that make smoking dangerous or is it the tobacco in the cigarettes. I read that a single cigarette has at least 60 additives? -__-

Additives mostly, although the tobacco is a carcinogen (iirc).

Inhaling smoke is bad for your lungs, period.
It depends on the brand of cigarette as to how many additives it has. They are usually there to do such things as alter the taste, maintain the shape and integrity of the cigarette, and to control the speed it burns at. Rolling your own cigarettes reduced the amount of additives you inhale. The main chemical in cigarettes, though, is tar. And that is actually secreted within the tobacco.

First, I did not have the time to read all the replies, so this may have been covered already. Sorry if it has.
While this is an interesting poll, I have to question several of you "Hard or Soft" classifications.
It's hard to call both Alcohol and Nicotine "hard" drugs when they are both legal in most areas. I can however see where they could also be the "hardest" of them all in terms of overall deaths due to their abuse. (Technically, Nicotine isn't deadly, so to speak, but the common form of delivery is; smoking).
But after that, your list gets very hard to see where you were coming from. You have Meth and Amphetamines both listed as hard, yet you have MDMA as soft? MDMA = Methylenedioxy
methamphetamine
.
Following that, you have LSD, shrooms, Peyote, and Mescaline as soft. While they all have varying levels of effect, I would not consider any hallucinogenic drugs "soft".
Lastly, you also have Nitrous as soft. When used for its normal purpose as an anesthetic, it’s somewhat harmless, but used for recreation, it can be very bad. It is just as dangerous and unhealthy as any other inhaled drug, i.e. paint, gas, or duster.

Incorrect. Nicotine, when concentrated, is incredibly deadly.

MDMA actually stands for Methylenedioxymeth
yl
amphetamine (I bolded the difference). That is just a nitpick, nothing more.
As stated
in my original post
, the classifications as hard and soft are based on the scientific interpretation of those words in relation to drugs. A hard drug is one that causes physical addiction. A soft drug is one that does not.
Elaborating further, to be classified as physically addictive, a drug has to fill two criteria:
Repeated use builds tolerance, thereby meaning an increased amount is required to achieve the same effect;
and
Withdrawal from regular use will cause physical symptoms in the user.
You, like many others, have fallen into the trap of thinking drugs should be classified hard or soft based on: (a) their perceived legality (remember, what is illegal in your jurisdiction may not be so in others); and (b) their perceived potency (keep in mind, potency is entirely subjective).
MDMA really isn't that harmful for you if its pure unless you get dehydrated.I'll quote the whole post because it's interesting, but I'm bolding the part that is in direct reply to this comment.
Fun facts about ecstasy (from the back of Zoo Weekly):
Ecstasy can cause lesions on your brain that are basically identical to those in multiple sclerosis patients. These lesions can cause permanent problems with voluntary and involuntary muscle control.
Although MDMA can kill from heat stroke (it can raise your body temperature to about 42°C, at which point all your organs shut down), E users can also die from drinking too much water to combat heat stroke - called hyponatremia.
From 1991 to 2004, ecstasy use in Australia increased by 309%. Cocaine use spiked by 42% over the same period.
More than 24% of Aussies ages 20-29 have used ecstasy.
It costs 25 to 50 cents to manufacture an ecstasy tablet.
Since 2005, the price of ecstasy in Oz has fallen by 21%, while the cost of a slab of beer (ie a 24-pack) has risen by 15%.
Recent drug hauls show that various adulterants, such as heroin, LSD, rat poison, veterinary drugs and crushed glass, have been found in ecstasy pills.
Up to 80% of ecstasy tablets sold in Australia are actually methamphetamine. Sometimes ketamine is added.
The average Aussie ecstasy pill has a purity of 34%.
Under a United Nations agreement, both MDMA and its analogues are illegal in every country on the planet.
And I'm pretty sure it's still considered less harmful than alcohol. :o

I experimented with cigarettes, never became a smoker though, but I've got no problem smoking socially once every couple months if the situation calls for it.
I drink caffeine on a regular basis (usually two rounds of coffee a day), but I'm not totally sure it's just the caffeine, because it has to be coffee, no other source of caffeine works for me. I'll get the jitters so I know the chemical is working, but it doesn't wake me up or make me more productive like coffee does.
I'm a regular alcohol drinker. I have been for my whole life, and I think that's the main reason I can truthfully say that I'm not an alcoholic even though I drink all the time. It's just another thing I do, and I have no problems not drinking if there's some reason I shouldn't drink.
I'm done my fair share of marijuana. It's an extremely potent stress reliever for me, and I think it really helped me through a tough patch of my life.
I don't do any other drugs. I would like to do ecstasy once, just to figure out what all the fuss is about. Other than that, I have no desire to ruin my life.

I have no desire to ruin my life.
This is a very important thing for recreational drug users. Something which, for a short while when I was 18, really hung in the balance for me.
I'd describe for you how it feels to be on ecstasy (it's amazing, especially the first 2 or 3 times), but something tells me the mods would not appreciate that at all.

/sigh. For the 25th #$%^ing time, the terms "hard" and "soft" are references to scientific observations regarding the physical addicitiveness of a drug. Will you get more off your face on ecstasy than alcohol? Yes. Can you get physically addicted to ecstasy? No. Can you get physically addicted to alcohol? Yes. Alcohol is hard. Ecstasy isn't.

Donny, don't bypass the censor. God, why did I show you all how to do that?(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##Indeed, please don't circumvent the filter... but also, quoting it gives a moderator another post to edit ^_^
If you see someone bypassing the filter just report and move on without comment.
