Have you ever been emotionally affected by a game?

I felt really bad, oddly, in GTA4.
The branch ending, either choice pretty much sucks.
I also got really upset in Zelda: OoT.
When Link was sent back, it sounds dumb, but I felt like he should experience the fact that he saved the world.
Mass Effect 2.
I let Kelly die. It was horrifying.
I think there are others, but yeah =)

Lost Odyssey. Oh God... ;_;
When Kaim, under the impression that his daughter was dead all those years, is finally reunited with her only to have her die in his arms in that same moment and in front of her children.
Lirum! ;_;
Longer scene but worse quality.

Omfg you read my mind. I thought nobody but me would mention GTA:IV.
OoT is the same sentiment for me. When I finished the game at like 7 I felt pretty sad.
Red Dead Redemption hurt, too, to a lesser extent. GTA:IV was worse because even if you chose the "nice" route, you still get
%^&*ed.

I cried during Portal credits.
This was a triumph
I'm making a note here
HUGE SUCCESS
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction
Aperture Science
We do what we must because we can
For the good of all of us except for the ones who are dead
But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying until you run out of cake
And the science gets done and you make a neat gun
For the people who are still alive
I'm not even angry
I'm being so sincere right now
Even though you broke my heart and killed me
THIS PART ESPECIALLY
And torn into pieces
And threw every piece into a fire
As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a wonderful line
And we're out of beta, we're releasing on time
So I'm glad I got burned
Think of all the things we learned for the people that are still alive
Go ahead and leave me
I think I prefer to stay inside
Maybe you'll find someone else to help you
Maybe black mesa
That was a joke, haha, fat chance
Anyway this cake is great, it's so delicious and moist
Look at me still talking, when there's science to do
When I look out there it makes me glad I'm not you
I've experiments to run, there is research to be done
On the people who are still alive
And believe me I am still alive
I'm doing science and I'm still alive
I feel FANTASTIC and I'm still alive
While you are dying I'll be still alive
And when you're dead I'll be still alive
STILL ALIVE, still alive
:'(

Mass Effect 2.
I let Kelly die. It was horrifying.
That scene is freaky. But when I went through it, I was able to save everyone. You just need to take your time with it.
While it's a rather newer game, the end of Halo:Reach affected me. Not as much as something like Zelda or Final Fantasy would, as they are story driven games. But the last level, where all you're told to do is survive. When I was watching the cutscene at the end of that, you feel kinda of abandoned and alone. Especially after what your spartain has gone through.

The end of Fallout 3 is the closest any game has made me come to having feelings.
Sacrificing himself (or if you're a prick, the girl who came with you), to save everyone. Then the cut scene afterward got me, it was about his dad or family or something... I should really play it through again.

Final Fantasy VIII and X got me pretty good.
The ending for VIII, where it flashes back to Laguna and Raine and then to the present.
In X, the scene where Tidus and Yuna are at the lake and it has the really sad, folky Japanese song playing. So beautiful.
Other than those, not so much, really.

Republic Commando, where Sev stays behind.
This.
Also.
In Gears2 Where Ben Carmine gets torn apart by nemacytes inside the Riftworm, where Tai shoots himself in the head with the shotgun, and when Dom has to kill Maria
Man, that game was depressing.
Edit: Oh yeah, like the guy said above, the last level of Reach. The music and then the cutscene at the end got me.

I haven't played Reach, and I probably won't. Going into a game (or movie, or book) knowing everyone's going to die before the end is kinda depressing.

Final Fantasy VI (US III) had some great scenes, as others have pointed out. The opera sent chills down my spine, Celes' attempted suicide got me a little
verklempt
. . . basically each of those characters had some sort of tragedy. I could list them all here, but it would just get me depressed. :P Oh, one more - the first time I played through, I
did
cry when I accidentally let Cid die on the Lonely Island right after Kefka shattered the world, and Celes was left alone...
Final Fantasy VII had Aerith's death, which was fairly touching, but despite the better graphics, it didn't have as much an impact on me as FFVI did.
Final Fantasy VIII and the scene on the Rangarok always gives me goose bumps; I love Faye Wong's 'Eyes on Me', maybe that's why.
Final Fantasy X and the final scene with Tidus
did
make me cry. What is it with FF and being utterly depressing?
On to some non-FF games: The ending of Kingdom Hearts always causes me to break up a little. The ending always seemed so unfair to poor Sora. I never did finish KHII so I'm unsure if the whole Sora/Kairi thing ever gets resolved.
Chrono Trigger was overall a depressing story. The scene with Lucca's mother, if you fail to input the password in time, is a bummer, and the whole segment with the Chrono Egg and trying to revive Chrono is pretty touching. I even thought it was fairly emotional when you crash the Epoch into Lavos. I still love what I've always referred to as Chrono's Lullabye (I'm not sure about the real name - it's a simple song played on chimes or bells).
While I didn't really care for the ending, Illusion of Gaia had some emotional scenes as well, such as when Seth finds out the fate of his parents, or the scene where the kids are remembering their pasts (I think the name of the song played then is called 'Within the Earthen Womb').

Yes.
Mw2 actually, when Ghost dies. Though that was probably because of the fact that I was really tired when I came to that part.
And when I come too think of it Black Ops did aswell, but that was just because that game in general was pretty mind twisting.
And Cod4, when the American dude dies in the nuke....
Or maybe I'm just insane....
Yes that's it, I'm insane, I just listed 3 Cod games......

Though that was probably because of the fact that I was really tired when I came to that part.Yeah, that was a bummer. :\ You just finished a particularly tough mission, did everything your were supposed to, and then you and the coolest character in the game are just gunned down like a b*tch.
And Cod4, when the American dude dies in the nuke....But this one bummed me out way more, not because of the player character dying, but because of that female pilot dying. I liked her. I busted my ass running to save her. I wasn't gonna let those Ambiguistanis get her. But then the bomb went off... :'(

Well, if yuo think about it, Jimmy would have been roflstomped if he tried to do a closequarters fight.
But, as it is, he was my favorite character, so I was uber pissed at Blizzard.

Sure i agree, Ol' Jimmyboy wouldn't stand much of a chance, but as it was now it was just Reveal - Surprised faces - Dead Body
It fit the story, sure, but why couldn't they kill someone else :(
