The female Blood Elf idle stealth animation is a good enough reason for me to keep them around.
... male Night Elves, on the other hand, can be castrated as a whole for all I care.

It's funny how people comment on how they hate the dance of a certain race... I mean, if you don't like it, don't use the emote. No one's forcing you to use it. Not to mention the dance emotes are pop culture references, so they're supposed to be silly.
And then the people who talk about their perfect hair... I hope your orc's wiry hair doesn't get messed up in the pool of lav-- Oh wait...

The dancing elves on mailboxes beg to differ.

I personally hate the laughs overall, the rest is fine, but their laugh is loud and obnoxious.

The only race I REALLY hate is Goblins... and Worgen. I'm apperently the only person who misses the pre-cata Worgen models.
I miss pre-cata Worgens so much. I was leaping for joy when I first saw "Son of Arugal" wandering about Silverpine.

The Horde had a nice all-ugly thing going. We were happy with it.
Female trolls are in no way unattractive. Tall and slender, with nicely shaped bodys and nice curves.
I would hit it.

As does the Piccolo trinket...and a few other items like it.

Wait... there are male BElfs? When did blizz implement this?
Also, elf is the most overdone, over-used race in all fantasy... name one fantasy game without elves someplace in it thats not based off of a real place... I played a lot of fantasy games and I can't name one...

Huge blood-elf fan stepping in to have stones thrown at him. *prepares self*
People hate on blood elves because of the over generalizations that "blood elves brought a lot of whiny kids to the horde" and "they ruined the 'all-ugly' thing we had going" and so on and so forth.
I dislike those notions because to be frank, they're not 100% true. The 'all-ugly' complaint is mere semantics, if you liked playing an all ugly faction, well, sorry. You'll have to deal with that. However the idea that they brought a lot of whiny kids into the Horde and somehow lowered the overall maturity level is asinine.
I've only played Horde-side since Burning Crusade, but I used to watch my sister play on her troll priest and believe me, from what I've seen of trade chat, pick up groups, etc the Horde was and still is no more 'mature' than the Alliance is. Honestly, the same kind of people will pick either side no matter what.
Then there are the people who try to back up that Blood Elves shouldn't be on the Horde's side, and rather on the Alliance's side, because of lore.
So i'm going to point out
why
the Blood Elves wouldn't be too keen to join the Alliance. {bunch of lore INC}
Before they were Blood Elves, they were High Elves living in Quel'Thalas (and before that Night Elf mages who were banished across the seas). They lived with their Sunwell and it was all well and good. They remained distant from the fledgling human kingdoms nearby (namely Lordaeron is the closest to Quel'Thalas).
They entered the Second War only reluctantly because of Anduin Lothar (who was a descendant of the humans who helped the Elves settle on the E.K. in the first place), sending a very small force headed by Alleria Windrunner. They believed the Humans would be able to take care of the Orcs themselves. Thus they were surprised when the Orcs came in and started burning Quel'thalas, aided by the hated enemy of the High Elves, the Amani trolls (under Zul'jin). They were forced to defend themselves against this threat.
After the war, the high elves largely blamed the humans for their homeland being burned, and withdrew from the Alliance, and shut themselves away in their kingdom, with only a few exceptions (namely Kael'thas Sunstrider).
Suddenly the Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas Menethil arrives and burns down their homeland (again), desecrates it destroys their capital city, kills their leaders (Anastarian and Sylvanas being two major ones) and defiles their holy font of power, as well as killing a very large percentage of this long-living race (somewhere between 70-90%). Many have had entire families ripped away from them; families they've known for thousands of years, as well as beloved leaders and their homeland burnt to ash and poisoned almost beyond repair, with undead monstrosities rising up and stalking the world, presumably because the humans failed to contain the plague and prevent the Scourge from uprising.
Oh yeah, I can see why they would want to join the Alliance now.
That's not even the end of it, considering what happened to those who were left (who were now becoming true Blood Elves). They summarily gathered behind the son of their dead king, Kael'Thas Sunstrider, who promised hope to his disparate and broken people, and to find a cure for the magic addiction they suffered (due to their dependency on the now-gone Sunwell). Kael'thas was then constantly jerked around by Garithos, one of the last remaining human leaders in the area, who was extremely racist and tried to have the entire lot of them executed for treason when they were forced to ally with the naga to save themselves from the Scourge (which would've been unnecessary, I might add, if Garithos hadn't ordered all magi and
human
troops withdrawn from Kael'thas's forces.).
They managed to escape the Dalaran prisons. About half of them went to Outland with Kael'thas and Lady Vashj, and the other half returned to Silvermoon; to pick up the pieces and hope for Kael'thas to return with a cure. Those left behind had to harden themselves against their addiction or they would become Wretched; y'know, those level 5 mobs in Eversong Woods.
When the time came that they had to choose a side in the Horde vs. Alliance struggle, its only natural that they picked the Horde. For one thing, the Forsaken supported them a lot with the rest of the Horde, and the Blood Elves have reason to (if not trust than at least) be friendly with the Forsaken; they are after all ruled by Sylvanas, who drove off their hated enemy (Arthas) herself and is former Ranger-General of Silvermoon. In fact most of the Forsaken *are* risen High Elves (though the in game models hardly represent that). The forsaken offer the blood elves help, as well, and help them stave off the Scourge invasion in the Ghostlands, as well as defeating the one who betrayed Silvermoon to Arthas, Dar'khan Drathir.
So, there's your lore reasons why the Blood Elves would side with the Horde instead...in fact they did try to give the Alliance another chance, but negotiations fell through with them.
TL;DR: Humans are responsible for the majority of the Blood Elves' problems, so why the hell would they side with them?
