I'm having a problem viewing anything in the Java viewer. Sometimes, I just get a white box with message "Error. Click for details."
When I click that, it brings up a dialogue box that says, "The application failed to run. There was an error while executing the application. Click "Details" for more information."
When I click Details, I get the java console that says
"exception: Found unsigned entry in resource:
http://download.java.net/media/jogl/builds/archive/jsr-231-1.x-webstart-current/jogl.jar
.

The alternative is that the viewer just freezes up Firefox. Plus, I'm having the same problem in IE (ugh. it made me use IE.) I've tried updating Java, disabling my firewalls, etc to no avail. But this is happening on two separate computers. I'm thinking that rather than my two computers having the exact same problem at the exact same time, it might be a problem on the site's end?

Having the same Java problem.

Same issue. I even went and updated Java and it still does the same thing. I can only assume it is a server side issue.

I have the same problem in Chrome, and I can't switch it to the Flash version before the bug locks up the whole browser.

I have no idea what that means. Flash version of 3D view is working normally.

Yeah, i have the same error as Nyton, running firefox 6.0.2 with java 1.6.0.27. Running on Windows 7 64 bit with an AMD Radeon HD 9600 series graphics card. Everything is up to date. Also, I've viewed java applets from other web sites with no issues in both firefox and IE. When i try to use IE on Wowhead i get a red X on a white background in the upper left corner. Firefox gives a error message in the upper left. Firefox also becomes unresponsive and i have to force it to close. When i open the java console i get the same error as the above posters. I've used the x key to clear it, but that doesn't work. It was working up until about 3 days ago.

Sun/Oracle basically pulled the rug out from anyone using this version of JOGL (the OpenGL library we use) by replacing their specially signed JARs with unsigned versions. This is fixed internally, but may or may not be ready to go live tomorrow - it has some side effects we may need to evaluate further.

As previously reported, the Character Profiler is displaying an extra set of arms between Male Worgens legs. As amusing as this is, it is still occuring :(

I remember about a few months ago you guys seemed to be working on adding new models to the model viewer - Human males with hair for example.
Any chance we might get that again?

Confirming that as of Friday 9/23 the java 3D model viewer is still not working, with the same symptoms as the above posters. How bad are these side effects and/or how long will it take to evaluate them fully?

It's working now. The issue is the security dialogs, which are a bit undesirable, but unavoidable, it seems.

I had to clear Chrome's cache to get the viewer to work, but the errors and crashing are now fixed.

Has the model viewer been tested with/optimised for Java 7? I use that, and it feels a lot slower (to load) than usual. Not sure if it started doing that when I upgraded Java, but I suspect that that'd be a good guess.

It's not working for me, it never has. At the moment i'm using the latest version of Chrome, on Mac OS X 10.7.1
Al i'm getting is a white background and no model at all. Anyone else having these issues? I tried on Safari and it's the same problem there.
I'm in the same boat. I validate that Java is installed properly and running by going to
http://java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp
and loading the applet (it works).
I'm running Java SE 6 Update 26 on Mac OS X 10.7.1 and Chrome 16.0.891.1.

It seems that every time I activate the 3D preview after not using it for some time/days, it starts in Java mode, annoying as that freezes the browser (both IE and FF) for a second. It this setting stored in a cookie or in the account?
This problem has become very frequent in about the past two weeks, sometimes several times a day. Cancelling the security dialog even occasionally freezes IE (sometimes only the tab, sometimes the whole window) for a short time.
Why does it revert to Java? Why even have the Java version as the default?
