"Killshades great starting" (Killshades
is a
great starting)
"are a" no G points for you!
That's what you think
:)
. Technically, the thing itself is a singular unit. It doesn't matter if its name has a plural word in it. If you replace it with something like "Tanking Helm", it becomes, "Tanking Helm is a great...". Though, I will grant you that bending the rules to match the plurality of the final word in the name sounds better. After all, nobody says "My pants is clean." I'll accept defeat on this one. (Another example: Five Guys is the name of a burger joint. You don't say, "Five Guys are a great place to eat." You say, "Five Guys is a great place to eat.")
...
leftright
I don't want the titles centered at the top. I was trying to work out a way to have them at 1/3 centered. centering after joining the first two cells was the best I could do.
You can prefix things with
&
nbsp;
to add non-breaking, literal spaces that you want to chain together. You could use that to space the title over without adding another cell. Just remove the align=center and add a slew of those in front.
Zoooommmm....
Also, you missed...
Under Professions...
...though you did cite it and give me credit.
I'm glad you appreciate it. Your good responses are definitely one of the reasons why I keep coming back as you add more. I have fun nitpicking
:)
.
That's an interesting idea you have about asking for a specific, non-staff, non-localizer type role that would open up the more advanced BBCODEs. People who have been shown to write and maintain guides could be granted that role as acknowledgement of their quality work, relying on those people, given their history, to not abuse it.
If you don't write the post up introducing that idea and proposing it in Feedback, I will. Make sure I notice when you do as I will reply with emphatic agreement.

It is actually right :)
It is not the actual vowel, but the sound =D
Another example is "eulogy" or any other "eu-" word. The long "u" is pronounced "yoo" with the constant version of the letter "y", while the soft "u" is pronounced as "uh".
As in "
An
undertaker said
a
eulogy"
Learned so much about English while studying Greek and Latin... (we were discussing rough and soft breathing marks)

Two good examples. Shades are sunglasses, and sunglasses are plural even in singular, so I was thinking the same would apply.

That is exactly what I wanted. Didn't know that existed...

I gave you credit for changing Off Spec to Off-spec, but I want to leave the "other" lines as regular text. It would be too much italicize If I changed all the lines to Italicize, especially in the alchemy section.

Your making the guide better. I hate that I have so much trouble proof reading what I write. I'm sure if I stepped away from a section for a day or 2 and then came back to it, I would be able to pick more stuff up, but the problem I have, that a lot of other people have when proofing, is that you don't read what is there word for word, you read what you thought you wrote the first time.
Anyways, I would have to say that the change log and the credits section is probably my favorit part of all this, and I love seeing your points add up.

I'll go write it up right now. I just need to look thought a bunch of the administrator posts to find some examples of BBCode that they can use but we can't.

Also, those things in the Professions table where I suggested "--". I can see that they're frowns if I zoom in a lot...

...but at normal size, on the browser I have at work, this is what I get...

Pelf - english is just annoying.
A unicorn sounds way better than An unicorn.... but it's wrong...
Actually as far as I know, that is correct, as the
u
in unicorn is paired with the
n
to make a
y
sounding syllable.
Same with hour. You don't say "a hour" you say "an hour" even though there is an
h
at the front of hour.

Yep. The A/An selection goes off of the sound, not the letter. That's correct.

Hobby. Though you'd really think that there's some job somewhere that would appreciate someone as obsessive
:)
. I guess my only unanswered question is if I would still enjoy it if it's what I did day-in and day-out.
Another way to look at my obsession with English is as compensation for being American. If I'm too stupid to speak 4 languages, at least I can be REALLY good at the one that I do speak.

Validity of random marks to indicate professions sucking for tanking:
Cartoon hand flicking you off? ✔
Chef's hat? ✔
Loaf of bread? ✔
Yes! All of those things still indicate that Tailoring sucks!
Hmmm... What else could we put there. "--" <--- I'll use that as a back up. Honestly the sad face was more of a joke at the time that I forgot to update with a more relevant symbol.
speak 4 languages, at least I can be REALLY good at the one that I do speak.
Ha! This is the exact opposite of me. I can speak English, Spanish, Chinese, and a little Portuguese/Italian thought the Spanish....but I can't spell in any of them, Chinese included since I have forgotten most of my character formations!
Hatman555:I use "Pelf-check", its kinda like spell-check, except more opinionated
^_^ love it.
Spent some time on the Standers for stickies. So I'm a little behind on rotation. If work stays pretty mellow I will try and have that section finished up, and then move on to gear, using YJ and Ful's posts as examples.

Hat, have a question i want to shoot to you, and to anyone else here that can answer this.
According to your enchants,
Greater Mastery
is better then
Mastery
. So my question to this is, how is a total of 15 mastery points difference worth the still high cost of mats? At least on my server, maelstrom crystals are still 550+ gp still.... The other reason i ask this question is that since it takes 179 mastery for one point, is the 15 points you get make that much of a difference?

Yes it makes a big difference. However that is a BiS enchant the +50 is still a very good choice with the mats cost. Also note that Bosses in ZG drop the Crystals. And there is atleast one enchanter normally present in the group farming the crystals themselfs.

I think everyone can agree on the fact that 65 is better than 50.

15 points isn't a game breaking difference. Its not. Atomicwolf22 means its a big different because of the mentality of stacking stats. If you ignore the small gains you can get here and there, through more valuable enchants, gemming, or food and flasks, in the end then it will be a big difference.
At the end of the day, its the best enchant you can get. Its worth is soly dependent on the content you are attempting. I'm not trying to one up anyone or brag or insinuate that I'm better, but a lot of people fall into the same situation as myself. As main raider in a guild, gold doesn't really mean much. Way more than enough in my bags to be happy, and 500,000 in the guild bank, the price of the enchant fits our style of play and progression. Again, I'm not trying to brag, and bringing it back down to a normal play style, if tanking is what you like, BiS enchants can be acquired through a little farming. A random ZG or ZA will almost certainly guarantee you a crystal.
Did you like the guide? Is there anything you didn't like in the formating? Changes? Suggestions, things you really liked?
Cheers,
Hat

This
is a work in progress. I like to get formatting done before I start filling for content. Starting here with the table of contents, I will be using the "anchors" that the forums allow to make the entire post navigational. I'm also going to
reserver
4 replies for later edits or modifications. So that leaves me with a total of 5 editable sections.

Is out of all my spec suggestions. An extra SotR slam, after using WoG is not worth the 2 points, when they can be put in other damaging talents to yield a more steady long term output.
Honestly, I'm really sad that the paladin tanking spec is starting to be 90% cookie cutter, with 10% variation =/
Oh well, guess I don't need to re-spec anymore.
