Knaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak!
My least favourite lore villain. :P
You have to admit, though; he's the most evil of them all. Who else among those mentioned could so easily disrupt the very fabric of the Warcraft universe?

He's still a million times worse then Knaak.....

Yes indeed he is.
Haven't read the book, but I've read excerpts... Blech.

Never heard of him. But if he's worse than Knaak... *loads shotgun*

Yeah it's horrible; the book has Jaina, Thrall, Aegwynn, conflict with the reborn Twilight Hammer....and it's freaking dry, unreadble, unbelievable.....so glad Blizzard has decided to never use him again(pray to the Goddess and the Hunter just to be safe).

That was a pretty bad book. ;) The whole thing about women in the army was just annoying, when that's not the case in pretty much every other form of lore.

Oooh,
that
book. It was the Burning Blade btw, but you're right. Blizzard needs to just keep Christe Golden on notice and pay her whatever she wants to keep making books.
But we're getting off-topic here.

Bah, in his mind, same thing. And they can.....as long as they let someone else write the romance scenes for Golden......

Bah, in his mind, same thing. And they can.....as long as they let someone else write the romance scenes for Golden......I don't really think there need to be romance scenes at all.
This is another peculiarly American habit that seems to always go unchallenged: why does a love interest subplot have to be shoehorned into everything? Imagine if there was some kind of parallel universe where every game and movie, regardless of genre, was required to incorporate at least one line dancing competition. We'd think they were all raving lunatics! And yet here's us forcing in an out-of-place, cheesy romance scene that's more agonizingly painful to watch than any of the actual horror the game is supposed to be about.

Heh, guilty of that myself in my own writing. But I managed to make a very intricate subplot out of it in the end. But there are instances where it pushes plot along. Isn't that the American dream, anyway? To find someone you can love and be happy together?
However, that quote reminds of something I grew up hearing:
Everything's a love story in the end.
I fear she is right...

Loken, the only villain in WoW I remember to use deception and guile.

I read the first 4 chapters of the book, couldn't stomach to read more. Coming to think of it, the same thing happened to me when I started to read Stormrage.

What about the undefeatable Hogger? The unbeatable 40-man raid boss in World of Warcraft? No guild can take him down!

whoever said LK has a more compelling backstory than DEATHWING needs to read up on their lore cause Deathwing makes Arthas look like a whining little BITC... i mean whining little babay

It's not as if a love story subplot always has to be written in some "out-of-place, cheesy" fashion. If Shakespearean or even Homeric writing shows us, is that romance can be used as a way of initiating some brutal and even epic (in the Iliad) conflicts. One of the most powerful human (and in WoW non-human) emotions is love. So if an expert writer can manipulate the characters in such a way that it doesn't seem off, by George let them at it.
