I don't know if anyone could accurately calculate a definitive "This is better." My
guess
would be that at very low levels of dodge, dodge rating would be better for avoidance, point for point, due to the diminishing returns on dodge. At higher dodge ratings, I'm betting agility, due to its contributions to savage defense in the form of crit and AP, in addition to the amount of dodge it provides. If you know someone who could find the 'breakpoint' for these two, that would be great. Again, a guess, but I'm thinking that a feral druid in feral gear is already past the "Dodge Rating is better due to diminishing returns" point by the time they're in heroics.
The functional reality is that they're close enough that if you're considering picking up strength based jewellery, it should be 7-15 item levels higher than the agility jewellery you're wearing to be worth it.

Agility is better than dodge. Why the
vs.
? Last time i checked, these two stats were not mutually exclusive. It is better to gem Agility, of course, but you can only reforge into Dodge. You can have tons of both, without one really nerfing the other.

Sigh. I don't carry all this math in my head. Read
this

this
and
this
, should help. Simply put, from a survivability standpoint, Agility is better.

Agility gives you: Dodge (a bit less that dodge rating but still quite a lot), crit (for a higher probability of Savage Defenses to trigger) and AP (for bigger Savage Defenses).
Even without taking threat into consideration the boosted Savage Defenses from agil are awesome and make it win vs dodge for gemming.

I've been told by my guild healers that my stamina stacking druid is the easiest of the 5 tanks we have to heal
Now imagine stacking agi, they'd jizz in their pants every time they'd heal you! :D

Not really. They would probably be stressed out of healing a new type of tank that they are not used to.

My guild got me to tank Halfus for the pull because I dodge so much and it gave us more time before the first tank swap

Yeah, thats why Bears are really effective on Halfus, and also Chimaeron. However, it is rare that a debuff from a boss that is supposed to enforce tank swaps is avoidable... i don't think it will happen again in the following raid content.

Kologarn's debuff was avoidable, and it was bugged in 10man :)
But I think debuffs are only avoidable if they have stacks (Cho'gall being one of the exceptions I can think of, but then again there's a lot of time between applications of the debuff).

I usually don't tank those <:o) We pick up the fire and water/ice at the same time with 2 tanks, but the earth and wind elementals are solotanked by the other tank while I go kitty.
Just trying to find some reasoning why it's sometimes avoidable and sometimes not :)

Wouldn't it be more effective to have a DK tank pull and pop his 20% parry cooldown (
Dancing Rune Weapon
)? Dodging much is nice but even Druids can't compete with +20%.
