I made this suggestion on the main topic but no one seemed to notice amongst the off topic posting happening there.
Basically, if we have the WoWhead client, would it be possible to track achievements created by wowhead? Blizzard doesnt seem interested in adding anything new to the table outside of raids, and it would be nice to have some more variety
such as rarespawns in EK and Kalimdor, and profession specific achievements.

I think what he was trying to get at (but the language is a bit confusing) is that wowhead would make WoW achievements for us, and then be able to track their completion with the wowhead client.
Better example:
Kill and loot 1000 pirates, you would get the wowhead achievement "Enemy of pirates!"
Kill and loot 1000 mammoths, you would get "maimer of mammoths"
Besides the looting of mobs, I don't know how else the wowhead client would track new made up achievements. All of the information on the profiler like raid kills and boss kills and wow achievements comes from the Armory, not from the loader.

Fayne, my guess is that there is a gold selling website called wow-base or similar..
Ilovemuffins, I don't think your idea is very feasible as it would be very easy to cheat the addon into believing you met the criteria for the achievements.. Also creating new in-game content isn't really the goal of this website.

Although this is a lovely idea, I don't think this makes sense for two reasons.
1. Seeing as these achievements would come from an outside source, it would be open to abuse. Not sure how well you/they can protect the system against that.
2. WoW already has an achievement system. Trying to patch it up by providing additional achievements bears the risk of them becoming redundant once/if Blizzard decides to implements similar or even the same achievements ingame.
Also, it sounds like a lot of work, and while i think the Wowhead site achievements are fun, it's not exactly a core feature.

If i may highjack this thread for a question:
Isn't it a little unfair that there are achievements for participating in/winning a Wowhead contest when this is usually only possible for US citizens? :)

Meh, I think its more sad that their are silver achievements for signing up during the closed beta, and during the first year of wowhead. I didn't play wow back then, but if I had, I totally would have been here! Its just sad to me that my silver list will always have that gap in it =P

Which is why they should be like a "star" category and not Silver.
Silver Achievements are a middle ground between Copper Achievements and Gold Achievements: they are somewhat uncommon, but are still obtainable with a little effort and time.
I'm by no means complaining here. I think that the people that supported wowhead during its first year, and participated in the close beta should have something for it. Making it a Gold achievement would almost make more sense than having it be a silver.
