If he does, we have to be prepared.

There was no telling what happened after we defeated Illidan, not like some bosses, we chopped off their head and complete the quest. But not for Illidan. I always think he simply did not just die, or I hope..
He died, reason we got certain items from the boss was to prove we killed said boss.
Like Onyxia right. I'm glad we got her head so she could never come back...
Level 60 Onyxia didn't have a setback. Level 80 Onyxia was just a "Happy birthday, WoW" raid. Level 85 Onyxia is Undead.

I'd like him back. He and Kael'thas were my favorite WoW villains, so it bugged me when they were shoehorned into being the evil guys, just for the hell of it.

Actually, apparently Onyxia coming back as a level 80 raid did have some place in lore.
Despite the common word, some adventurers claim it was they, not Varian Wrynn, who have slain Onyxia. Some even claim
they have slain her not once, but twice

Kael'thas deserved the image of villainy he got. He became a lieutenant of KJ, if you remember.
Illidan...not so much.

Is that sentence sourced though?

Interest. That lore cover was thin at best and you know that. But it surprises me that there was actually an attempt to cover like that. News to me.
Whether or not there was any reason to bring Onyxia back lore-wise, she was not brought back for the lore. That 'lore' was added after to smooth over.
Eh. She still came back in BWD. So there is a "setback" concept (yeah I know it was said above she's undead).

I like the thought of Illidan making a divine redemption just as much as anyone else does, but Illidan is dead. They brought back Onyxia and Nefarian because they had very close ties (Daughter and son) to the final boss of this expansion. Everyone Illidan had a positive connection to died. If Malfurion heard everything his brother did, I doubt he, or anyone else who heard them, would allow anyone else to resurrect him.
The only way he can return is through evil methods. Seeing as he's not on Azeroth, the Old Gods are kinda powerless there, and not many people can resurrect someone as powerful as him without the help of a divine being.

Maybe A'dal will help.

Kael was the real villain of the Expansion, not the Emo King.
As Illidan died for reals, I'm really hoping we never see him return. Now Maiev, she I want to come back.

Illidan's going to come back while Malfurion is fighting Ragnaros. Just as Rag gains the upper hand and Mal is about to die, BAM, Illidan's going to jump in and be like, "What's up? Savin' the day again, amirite?"
And the whole "He's dead lololol" thing, I don't care. He got slashed across the chest by Frostmourne and survived, nothing Maiev did to him could compare to that.

Well, Blizzard actually said Illidan wasn't supposed to die there but couldn't put in the scene to depict that accurately...soooo..

Ya know, I never really liked Illidan... the whole "I don't like living in my brothers shadow" + "Let's make stupid decisions on how to gain power to impress my brother's girlfriend!" always rubbed me the wrong way...
It's like being powerful in and of itself wasn't enough for him... he had to be #1 AND get the girl as well.
I guess I just never liked the whole "Vegeta" character style... (sorry to take peoples favorite lore character and reduce it to a DBZ archtype, but it fits)

That's more or less what Illidan boils down to; he quit learning to be a druid because it was too hard and Mal was better at it, which made Tyrande show more affection to his twin. He willingly betrayed the Allies during War of the Ancients to gain more power, giving up his eyes with only a slight hesitation, and later came back, saying that he intended to betray the Highborne from the start....yeah, that's going to make you trust someone.
Yes, he helped to save the world by helping his brother at the end...then spun around and spat in his people's face by recreating the Well of Eternity, placing his entire race into the roles of Protector for life, and giving himself eternal life....which came back to bite him massively on the ass, as if he hadn't of done that, it's entirely possible he might not have lived for those 10 thousand years in the dark.
Then, when he's given his freedom, his first move isn't to thank Tyrande, oh no...it's to run off towards the source of power he sensed, where he was manipulated by Arthas and KT into killing Tichondrious, absorbing the Skull of Gul'dan and get into a magical duel that further increased the corruption of Felwood. Then, later, he does one good thing; helps to save Kael......and that's about it, after attempting a spell casting that would have destroyed the Lich King, and all of Northrend, killing everyone there, Scourge and Living alike.
After that, he sparks off a war in Draenor, and ends up under the thumb of Kil'Jaeden who scares the living $%^& out of him to send him after Arthas again. Arthas kicks the ever living crap out of Emo-King at the top of world and leaves him broken, shattered, and destroyed....and the Emo-king, through his own madness, believes that he defeats Arthas, and the only reason he creates the Illdari forces in Outland is to have an army to fight whoever(it's never really clear) when in reality he created them to keep KJ from coming back to murder him.
Seriously, I'm glad he died in obscurity at the end of BT, eclipsed by Kael and the Legion's return. Like I said, I want Maiev back, but the Emo-King can stay rotting.
As for Kael: he was the real villain/anti-hero of the Expansion. His original plan was 'genius'; gain control of the Keep and absorb all of the magic of the Netherstorm into it, then plane shift back to Azeroth and feed his people for all eternity....and of course, when the Keep teleports away, sets off a chain reaction that would have destroyed all of Outland, killing the Legion, the Gruul's, Illidan and Vashj all in one swift move.
When his plan failed, did he start crying like the Emo-King? No, he started planning again, this time intending on transforming the entire Legion into power batteries for the Blood Elf race, then wipe out the Scourge and everyone else who was a threat to the Blood Elf nation.

You mean your guild hasn't killed him yet?
That would be like having Malygos in the Deathwing encounter when it is out.
