Rudeness and general lack of manners on WoW...

Unfortunately, social standards are dropping, which can be seen in modern music...
Elvis Presley was scandalous.
1920's = jazz
1930's = Big band
1940's = big band w/ singer
1955+ = Elvis, Buddy Holly, etc.
Each of those were considered "evil" and "of the devil". All "modern music" is hated by the older generation. That's just how it works.
Exactly. It makes me wonder what my kids will think of what I listen to now =/

Why take up space on God's green earth if you think you are beyond salvation.
Maybe I'm not religious and do not think this is "God's green Earth and do not need or care for salvation of a being that may or may not exist.There is such a thing as human nature. And there is also such a thing as a
fighting
chance.
As my mother said, "A real man makes his own luck".
A man can only make so much of his own luck and the rest is down to chance and the willingness from others to help you succeed.
@ OP Most people on WoW will be rude and derogatory but don't let it phase, move on and leave the asshats be

Aaaaaaaaand thread derailed. Kudos and tips of the hat to the normal group, with Aestu appearing as the special guest. We thank you all for your appearances in tonight's thread.
Queue music, cut to commercial.
The "%^&*!@#-ness" of online gaming, I personally think, is due to the competitiveness combined with the social anonymity and lack of strong repercussions. All those mixed together cause just a plain high agitation among members of the community.
Combine that with the false elitism and sense of entitlement that many people feel in games, online or other, just make a mixing pot of stupidity and !@#$%^&-ness.

While we're on music,
this
-- commonly heralded by modern music historians as the first true Heavy Metal Song -- was the cause of quite a scandal back when it was released in '68, despite being probably the lightest metal you've ever heard.

You are taking a very myopic perspective in looking only at the last hundred years.
The last hundred years affect modern music a lot more than the time period before that.

The topic of discussion is human character and social morality, not modern music.
So? I was talking about modern music in my post. You attempted to refute me, and I countered. This has nothing to do with the OP except perhaps in the very fringes.

I understood you as using the history of music as a means of identifying the correlation between media and morality. If that wasn't your intent and you were simply going on a tangent about music then you are merely derailing the thread.

I've always believed that WoW can be a microcosm of the World, and reflects the degradation of society. People don't have manners like they used to back in the day.
However what amplifies it is internet anonymity. People can say or do almost anything because they know there are no repercussions.

And if there is no solution?
Everyone is part of the problem for one persons foolhardy belief in their own skills?
To deny there is a solution is a copout. Everyone has the individual choice to be part of the problem or to be part of the solution. Then again, the purpose of rules and consequence is to guide individuals to making the right decisions.
Late, but sleep was needed.
No, I actually agree. Well, relatively.
No solution at all was badly phrased on my part, because there's always a solution. A positive solution is different.
You then talk of individual choice as if everone is a perfect human being. Which, invariably, we aren't.
If we make the individual choice to help the solution, and the problem-person doesn't listen, how far do we stoop to make him listen?
Do we stoop so far that by the time we solve that problem, we create a new one?
Or do we drop out, leaving the original problem unsolved because you haven't got the heart to go further than simply telling them?

It is universally acknowledged that the Internet allows people to act like complete and total jerks. However, the positive side is you
don't
have to acknowledge them; the "Ignore List" thingie is there for a reason. If I'm in a pug and if the person is being rude (but not disruptive to the point the group can't move on), then I'll just not pay attention to him/her. And if I'm a healer, I might "forget" to top him/her off.

...I would say that this, at times, spoils my enjoyment. To go into a dungeon at level 45, and have someone who knows nothing about me call me every name under the sun (f's, c-bombs, the lot) for no apparent reason was unbelievable. Do they speak to people like this in 'real life'? Why is it necessary to go out of your way to dig at someone, call them names and insult them personally? This is by no means an isolated incident.
Sorry that happened to you.
Ask the offending party member of he/she has "The Patient" in-game title, and if he/she earned it. If so, ask them to turn it on.
