In your case you (and I) agreed to pay X gold for flying, the fact that the next day it was cheaper didn't change the fact that we AGREED to pay X for flying.
You both realize that you probably could have asked a GM about it, right? I had a friend do that as he couldn't get to the patch notes, bought Duel Spec for 1k gold, then it was changed the next day. The GM refunded the 900g.

When they Nerf something they do so RETROACTIVELY.Lol, no they don't; they are always up front about a nerf they never sneak it in.

I don't think either of you are getting what retroactively means ;)

Making the change to existing items/talents that were purchased BEFORE the patch notes is most certainly making a retroactive change.
I never said they sneak changes in, just that they do so without regard to players time or effort and do not compensate them for their lost time & effort.
Both of you have valid points. Adams, while missing the point with the retroactive thing, does have a valid point as well. While Blizzard does not compensate you, they have patch notes out generally two weeks before hand. That's plenty of time to consider whether you want an enchant or not, and plenty of time to make up for lost gold and items.
If you get an enchant and it is nerfed the next day, it is your own fault for being blind. If you got it two weeks ago (random time), why complain? You've probably made up the money and items by now.

No compensation is required because most people know stuff like this happens and plan accordingly. Nerfing things like talents enchants spells etc are part of the game. Anyone who has played a mmo for a month or two understands, sure they gripe about it for a day or two but they learn to get over it.
Also they release the patch notes weeks ahead of time whats 2 hours of planing a few weeks ahead of time.

This was a totally inappropriate response.
So I should think of my gear as renting, say a week at a time?
What.
No, I chose the best gear option open to me at the time (before the patch notes).
This is your problem. Look ahead before you do, and you'll save yourself pain.
If Blizz can't live with the stats IT PUT ON THE GEAR, compensate folks who are now going to be harmed by reducing the value of their gear/abilities.
Every change Blizzard makes produces a ripple effect. The enchant could be part of it.

Not really; all he's doing is complaining because he wasn't 'smart' enough to pay attention to the patch notes and think he deserves compensation over the people who have been playing this game since Vanilla and haven't gotten a thing after the endless round of nerfs.

Funden,
Thanks for being a voice of calm discussion, I do appreciate it :)
I only get heated when the discussion get personal ;)
I am aware you get the dictionary definition, but I think you are inflating it far beyond its level of importance.

(60% is huge)
Context though. While 60% is a huge nerf to the buff in question, in practice it doesn't do much less.
release properly tested products that don't require huge adjustments
Testing is a
lot
harder than people think it is ;)

I believe actually made D/E'd the ite, before the patch notes were out, which is also why I keep pointing out the principle involved.
Respect the players time, release properly tested products that don't require huge adjustments (60% is huge), and when you do have to make changes give some gold to compensate players for the resources they are going to spend adjusting to the nerf, instead of improving their toon.
Your time may have no value, but mine does.
Too bad real life rarely if ever works like that eh?

All nine of my 30+ characters have dual-spec. Five of them bought it during Wrath when it was 1000g each. The other four, plus my level 15, paid/will pay 10g each. Am I entitled 4,950g because Blizzard decided to lower cost?
It's the same situation, and I couldn't care less about my "gypped" 5k gold.
