Hello all!
Looking for a bit of Healing Unit frame advice.
Currently I use Grid + Pitbull.
Frames I have shown:
Pitbull:
- Target (Name, Max Health, Percentage Health, Percentage Power, 10 Buffs, Raid Target)
- ToT (Name Only on Health Bar)
- ToToT (Name Only on Health Bar)
- Focus (Name, Max Health, Percentage Health, Percentage Power, 10 Buffs, Raid Target)
- All Class Colored with Graphite Texture. Text is Class Colored.
Grid -
- Class Colored Frames + Text
- Show alternatively Name / Health Deficit
- Center Shows Debuff Icons that I can dispell.
I have seen some pretty swanky UI's but am just not sure how to emulate them. I'm fully amiable to switching to VuhDo if necessary, but I don't believe it is. (Though if someone is aware of the merits of VuhDo over Grid, please elaborate!).
My conundrum is thus:
I *loathe* high contrast frames. I like very subtle UI's. But I can't seem to perfect a black on black frame with class colored names. I'm open to other color ideas, but I very much dislike the bright white of Priest Frames, the Orange of Druid frames, the Pink, etc. With the Graphite texture toned down on alpha I have it about where I like it, but it's still not quite enough. Any help on doing a very low contrast Unit frame where it is still easy for a healer to gauge percentage health would be amazing.
(I'm also amiable to changing pitbull if there are other recommendations, as I only use 4 frames from it, and it's a rather large Addon in and of itself. But, so help me god, if you recommend Xperl, I'll rip your spleen out and feed it to you.)
If I get a chance I'll post a screenie of what I have, but alas, I'm at work.

I guess you won't get pelf's advice in this thread.
When I was keeping up my own UI, I was using Grid and Stuf. Both are pains in the ass to get set up, but you can make them look however you want and show you whatever you want.
I've since switched to a hybrid Hydra/Eselol TukUI edit and I'm quite pleased.

I don't understand why you would use 2 frame unit addons? Aren't Pitbull and Grid designed to do the same thing. I'm new to healing and trying to setup PitBull, which is not fun, but i can't imagine why i would want to use Grid3 also. Yes, i am a newb to UI changing and know i am ignorant, so it really isn't necessary to point that out.
Pitbull and Grid are not designed to do the same thing though Pitbull can get you pretty close to the functionality of Grid. Pitbull is a full on unit frame addon so it has Player, Target, Focus, Target of Target, Target of Target of Pet unit frames where Grid is nothing more than a party and raid frame. Grid is designed to be ultra compact by it's nature while Pitbull has to be configured as such and if memory serves me isn't as affective at the ultra compact size (been several years since I ran Pitbull) Grid also being stand alone from the rest of the unit frame UI means you can swap out unit frame addons or even return to default if you must if something breaks in that particular addon.

I personally use Vuh do I have been using it since wrath it is very customizable. if I was you and wanted to sue grid I would use grid and cliques.I am not a newbie I have been dealing with add-ons since burning crusade. Vuh do has all of what you are covering with 2 add ons in 1 and I bet running two unit frames it is bogging your system down so it should lighten the load. Hope that helped .

That shouldn't be a problem. If Pitbull isn't given the responsibility of rendering raid frames, it doesn't have to listen to any of those events. It spends no CPU time or other resources on units not in use.

That is an assumption and without more information provided, there is no basis for making any determination that it is a problem or not.
