Hey there im a pretty new lock (38 demo) and was wondering how to up my dps in low level dungeons. The trash mobs seem to go too fast for my corruption to really have much effect and normally i only have time to cast two (if that) shadow bolts (rarely i get the instant proc from glyph but as said corruption doesn't stay on long enough)
If it's any help my dps for a full uldaman run was 142 and about 170 on bosses and my overall damage was only 18% of the groups :(
At these levels would going destro with the quicker shadow bolts instant conflag and rain of fire buff increase my dps by alot or only marginally and just foget about corruption, (if so which would be the best glyph to replace glyph of corruption) or am I doing something totally wrong?
sorry for the newb questions thanks for any replies

Demonology gets better as you continue to level. The high survivability of this spec is its main perk. For normal low level trash mobs, single target is just shadow bolt spam. Use rain of fire for trash packs that don't need CC. On bosses Immolate > Corruption > Shadow Bolt spam.
Be sure that you are using your Felguard as your pet, and check his spell book as you continue to level so you don't miss spells like felstorm (which you get @ 45 iirc.) As far as the glyphs go Kappajoe's level guide recommends GoFelguard. The only other one worth using would be GoImmolate.
For anything else that involves leveling I would give this thread a read

and come back and ask for more specific things if you still have questions.
Good luck and have fun

Thanks for replies i'll stick with demo and swap out glyph for felguard as a side note something that may be messing up my recount when ever bane of doom procs and I get my little ebon imp thing he replaces my felguard as my pet (in recount) even after he has gone is this a bug and is there anything i can do to get rid of it?

Thats just cosmetic, it shouldn't be overwriting the actual damage that your felguard is doing. Click the little gear on the recount interface, that should open up the options. The second last option on the left column lets you set if you want to merge pet damage with the owner.
Also as a side note: DOing quests should be faster:)
Its also much more fun imo :D

Demo can be a little lacklustre at the lower levels, but you will soon be able to send the meters skyrocketing with Hand of Guldan + Felstorm + Hellfire. Demo is great for AoE. And then Metamorphosis once you get to Northrend.
My lock is currently level 70 and I haven't had to CC in dungeons yet, so keep with the Felguard and I promise you'll have fun soon!

Quests more faster?
... maybe while in queues. I've found dungeons to be faster than quests, and if your good, PvP beats dungeons.

Just hold in there. Single pull targets for a while won't net you sweet epeen stats on the dps meter. Group pulls of trash mobs are where you get to have fun. Hellstorm + Felstorm initially, and just wait until you drop a HoG during the pull timed well (for increased crit chance on pet's hits) followed by a Felstorm + Meta > leap > Immo Aura > Hellstorm series. Don't waste your time on a HoG if the pulls are coming fast. Only HoG if you can start the cast before the tank pulls and finish the cast as he has the mobs reaching him. Just Hellfire + Felstorm, and if Felstorm's on cooldown, have fun with Hellfire alone.

Thanks for the replies, felstorm has seen me jump from third or fourth on the dps to first or second and beating the tank for overall dmg has become less of a challenge so im all happy with demo at the moment :) Now i just cant wait to turn into a serious bad ass demon myself ;)

At low levels, don´t worry about your dps. If you know your spec and know the rotation you will be using later, just use it. If stuff is dying that fast ( and it does in leveling dungeons).. nobody really cares about DPS totals. Most experienced players know that on trash, and especially during leveling, that some classes have clear advantages.
Just make sure you are clearly contributing (not on auto follow) and do the best you can.
