I'd rather have the names on the left side of the screen like 99% of the other forums out there. That's just my opinion though.
I used to think this too. The new phpBB theme has them over on the right though; and, if you think about it, the real CONTENT to a forum post is the post itself rather than the avatar or the post count or the name. The CONTENT is tagged by those but it is the unique data on that row.
With that in mind I kind of have just gotten used to it and I think I like it now.
One thing I wondered when I saw they were using the WoW icons is how respectful of icon adoption people will be. Anyone with backend access want to tell us how many icons are in /images/icons/large/ ? I know I certainly have tried to pick one nobody had already but I wonder how easy it's going to be to do that going forward.
Oh and, Wowhead FTW indeed. This site is so awesome in so many amazing ways. I won't lie when I say I've "borrowed" some UI design ideas for my own web design projects from these guys.

I want to compliment you guys on a great and functional site! You guys seriously know how to handle Javascript! :-)
Btw, I love the a:visited color style! Makes it so easy knowing which threads I've visited.

I'm also really glad to see these boards, I hate the WoW forums.

For some reason, I really like the fact that our avatars are all from in game icons. At least we have more choice than we do on the official forums in that respect. There's so many to choose from!

Biggest reason wowhead is better (in my opinion) than both the offical wow website and thottbot starts off with something alot of people think doesn't matter.
w3c.
Look at the source code for all three sites. On any page.
Wowhead wins in clean code, and complies with w3c standards. This proves that good looking & functional websites don't require you to make lame excuses about market share and design them for
Internet Exploiter
.

Same here, I notice or i thought i saw references to mootools? I really love that set of libs so versatile and yet so powerful. Infact i think it is where adobe got it's inspiration for '
adobe air
'
Having spent the last 10years in web design/coding and the last 3 years trying to get people to understand what a style sheet is, I find it comforting to be able to use a services that caters for one of my biggest hobbies (which i find as mainstream as microsoft) and at the same time doing it in a ninja like efficient manner.
The sad part is, despite having such an excellent source of information with great tools...there are still many who choose be ignorant. no matter how many times you suggest wowhead.com or wowwiki.com they always vilify you for encouraging them to learn for themselves.
It's like the persecution the mages have with water...players crowding round them with baseball bats just waiting for the mage to deny them water...
einstein had a great saying....but I'll let you find that out for yourself.

Yeah, seriously. DON'T BUMP OLD THREADS.
Should at least be a warning for offenders and possible perma-bans for repeat offenders. Always a good rule for forums. Helps to keep long dead topics out of the newer ones.
