"We realise that this change (if it makes it all the way to live realms) will have a great impact on the Druid class, so to compensate we have added additional damage output."
Wont do a damn bit of good if i am stuck in place. :)

Allow me to just agree that Nethaera's response was completely worthless and extend that to even borderline insulting.
This.
Correct me if I am wrong but the "damage boost" they gave us was just a readjustment of where the damage was coming from... the amount of damage has not changed... Actually with the changes to root this makes feral even worse as we can't even have the benefit of knowing we have an effective dot ticking on something while we sit there rooted to the ground getting humped.

I think, in addition, when a feral druid is rooted, they should automatically drop form and be locked into the /dance animation for the duration. That's about equivalent to any other solution. Trinketing the root would obviously break the dance animation.

Here is an idea.
What they are really trying to stop is the powershifting macro we use.
They do not want us ripping out of roots for no apparent reason. The want us to have to actually change shape to break out of roots.
Couldn't this be better accomplished by locking us out of our current form? Effectively costing us two globals to get back to our intended shape?
(Captcha: never Hapilly)
Sounds more like a CD on form swapping. If i recall they never put it into place due to restos needing to be in form to be truly effective... might be a more reasonable option.

I think I could live with a cooldown on Shapeshifting, so long as they remove that annoying
"I tried to power shift but was unable, so now I'm stunned in Caster form instead of Bear Form"
thing that results from our shapeshifts just being cancellable buffs.
If the act of UN-shifting caused a GCD, and the act of Shifting had a cooldown (which I think should be started immediately after
entering
form vice leaving, as not in interfere with PvE viz. Feral Rebirth, Innervate, Thorns) -- it would hinder our ability to
chain
-break snares, which seems to be what has the Frost Mages up-in-arms. I also think the mana cost of Shapeshifts should be raised again, since apparently the dev goal of "moar shifting" is gone.
These things would add more of a check on our Snare-breaking abilities than currently exists, but wouldn't feel like such a betrayal of Druism as just removing it outright.

It does kind of feel like they are trying to change the entire class, the "feel" of it and it's purpose, first with tree form and now with shapeshift itself...wish I had a working crystal ball right about now to see where this will all end up.

) Confusing language...
A specialization is one of the perks you get for picking a Talent Tree, right? So all Resto druids will be able to maintain Root-breaking, and Feral/Balance won't be able to 'spec into' root breaking. (as someone else has pointed out, Boomers don't really need root-breaking, so is this their way of 'targeting' Feral without actually targeting Feral? Now they seem evasive
and
lazy.)
And I thought Snare and Root meant the same thing, is a Snare a slowing effect and a Root an immobilizing effect? WoWWiki says so, so I guess I'm just a dummy.

Yep.
Exactly what happened. Honestly if all of these are going live, Feral will drop. Might even go under Hunters in terms of, "lol it's
that
class again. +1 KB to me.

Hm. They added snare break to the only spec that can also just dispel the roots.

Dispel costs more... but yeah essentially a stupid option...

Part of the problem, IMO, is that SO many classes have crazy snare, root abilities on a low or nonexistent CD. I personally would like to see a revamp of snares and roots in general.
