Tailoring worth it?

So I'm a bit unsure of what I should do at the moment on my 81 Mage. He is on another server that I started playing on back when I started WoW, and right now I've picked him up again since my friend is on more. He only has 1k at the moment, but has Herbalism and Tailoring. He does not have Artisan Flying, which I know I can get easily if I picked up skinning. But since he has 400 Tailoring, is it worth it to drop this in an attempt to make money? Since according to WoW Professions I would need 1800 Embersilk, but this seems a to be ridiculously large amount and would costs around 14k.
Tl;dr Would Tailoring pay out in the end?

I would say yes for the simple fact that you can make a load of money selling 7 spell threads a week or by making the epic gear. Since the cloth is on a 7 day cool down it at least on my server makes the spellthreads 1k a pop and epic gear 15k or more.

I sold an epic pair of boots and a epic belt for 35000g total, that alone covered all my tailoring related expenses, so i would say its worth it.

Alright then I must say that I am getting a large amount of cloth.
Characters with 400+ tailoring have a +50% drop rate of Embersilk.
I did not know this but I see now that it must be true, since after one run of Grim Batol I had 5 stacks of cloth. I guess it will just take time.

Just to correct something. Each type of Dreamcloth is on a 7 day cooldown, so you can make more of them than 1 a week.
Cheers.

Yes, he said 7 spellthread a week, implying 7 dreamcloth being made per week. I believe he understands this.
