Outdated Database Entries

I know that Wowhead cleared their database of most pre Cata content.. But the more I use Wowhead, the more I realize how much is still incorrect. I'm not sure where the bad entries came from. Old data that wasn't deleted, or somehow stuff got in after Cata that was pre-cata info somehow...
Some of it is obviously wrong at a glance; A.K.A Hyena's in the ocean:
Pesterhide Hyena
Steelsnap
A lot of it isn't so obvious until you show up and realize that the NPC just isn't there any more.
I've ran into this enough times now to think it must be a fairly large issue.
Question:
Are there any plans to delete the first week or two of data post-cataclysm to clean out any bad data once Wowhead has a decent amount of info built up again?
In the meantime, would it be possible to place a box somewhere that lets us know when the last database submission was for whatever we are viewing? That would probably give us an immediate answer if something is outdated. If the last submission date was November 2010, then we know that it's probably not correct any more.

We already did but it may be necessary to delete more.
However it appears we keep getting (incorrect?) data for
Pesterhide Hyena
.. For example on
12/21/10 21:09:40
we got a seen on location 46.4, 59.4.
Are you sure they are not actually there?

I recall seeing a lot of dead mobs at the "sea floor" there, as a result of the major flood. For example, look at the dead
Whale Shark
.
Not entirely sure though, but will take a look later, when I get the game going.
EDIT:
Nope, nothing. Not even some dead ones. Bugged or faulty data then.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gnub##DELIM##

That would make the last submission date less usefull, wouldn't it?
Meh
Hmm...
Is it possible that people are still barely getting around to submitting pre Cata content, or do you have something in place to check for that somehow?
My wife also found pre Cata listings for some humanoid NPC's in the Wetlands. I don't know the exact listing right now. Apparently, she was looking for one of the spawns there for a drop that they were listed to have. Their location was full of fire elementals.
There have been a couple other times too. I'll try to keep track of the specifics for now on, but it looks like it may be an ongoing issue until we (Mostly you, probably :P) can figure out how this old info keeps sneaking in.
EDIT: Looking at the spawn locations for those hyenas, I notice that the reported locations all follow the contour of the new map. They stay in the water and seem to wrap around the islands.
That seems odd. I don't think it would be old or outdated info. The map changed too much for it to line up that well, I think.
I'll take another trip there and scour the ocean floor again to see what I find.
How does your db track beast names and such? Does it pull the name directly, or do you reference a WoW table of some sort? (eg: 14753 = Gilled Hyena). If you're referencing any tables, it may be that there is 'something' there that just isn't hyenas any more.
Or... Dead hyenas randomly litter the ocean floor and they are just rare.
But, if that's the case, they probably aren't dropping any loot any more.

I am still seeing many npc vendors listed as selling recipes that are no longer where wowhead says they are, or appear to no longer be in game. I also am seeing a lot of items that are still listed as dropping from mobs that no longer are of the level to drop that item or are no longer in that location. It would seem there is some data that is being stubborn about being replaced by newer data in the database, or keeps getting re-uploaded from people that haven't done an upload in quite some time. I would have thought that after nearly three weeks that most of the old out of date info would have purged itself. Here are some examples.
Angerclaw Grizzly
This mob no longer exists at that level in Felwood.
Diseased Grizzly
Clearly wrong as there isn't any mob over level 40 in Western Plaguelands post-Cataclysm.
Bale
This vendor in Felwood is no longer at the listed location as Bloodvenom post is no longer a Horde camp. I have not encountered him anywhere else in Felwood either.
Recipe: Charred Bear Kabobs
The vendor listed for this for the Horde, that I referenced above is no longer around it appears. The reagent for this still drops, but I have yet to find any vendor selling this recipe. I don't know if this recipe will no longer exist and they haven't cleaned out the reagent or if the new vendor for this has yet to be spotted and uploaded to wowhead yet.
These are just a few of the many incorrect entries I have been finding. At the moment the database is so full of bad data that its effectively useless for many things. Maybe it needs a full purge and a clean start thanks to the changes made in Cataclysm.

I haven't been able to pinpoint anything in that area that would suggest an answer for the hyenas showing up.
One theory did occur to me.
WoW uses instancing everywhere now. I did a lot of the quests there and they use instances to change big areas to make pirate boats do different things depending on where you are in the quest chain.
Is it possible that instance specific spawns may be causing this some how?
Also a thought to Wowhead in general: If some spawns change after (or before) a specific quest, what effect will that have on the usefullness of the collected info for the zone?

Those are not instances, they are terrain phases. This mechanic allows Blizzard to swap out the terrain and objects you see, without physically moving your character.
Terrain phasing can cause some annomalies with creature data (such as Wowhead showing creatures from before and after a quest event in the same place), but it's unlikely that location coordinates will be affected, as your character doesn't actually move.

Thanks for the terminology correction. Phases are what I was trying to refer to.
I'm unsure if there is some phase that may allow otherwise extinct animals to spawn (Maybe even some cutsceneish thing that takes you back in time to before Cata). Mostly, I'm not sure what extent they have been using phasing or how confusing it will make Wowhead if the spawns change depending upon phase.
