Okay so I plan on buying a new laptop, that can Cataclysm on it. Any suggestions? I know laptops wont deliver the same quality as a desktop would but I need to have a laptop for school reasons. I am looking for one that is budget friendly.. I'm not going to post my budget range because I can always get more money and I want to see what you suggest. What ever laptop it is.. the one thing I want it to offer is medium to high game play. Thanks in advance.

I do warn you though, it is a refurbished Laptop, so it's quite a gamble.

Alienware m11x. Hell you would be fine even with like a new Dell Inspiron for like 400-500 even. Along with the 2 m11x laptops I have I also have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and 1520, both have their ram upgraded to 2.5gig and they even run Cata fine and they are like 2yrs old.

I purchased
this laptop
this summer and it's certainly the best computer I've ever owned. The only issue is that it can hardly be qualified as a laptop due to it's size and weight, but if that's not a major concern for you I love it and highly recommend it. I'm fairly certain it's the best thing you can get for that price without building a computer yourself. I run WoW with all settings turned to max at ~60 fps in most areas, ~35 in crowded places like Orgrimmar while running random programs like messenger and web browsers in the background.

LOL. Alienware/Dell is an absolute horrible choice for any person. Period. Terrible computers.
If you're going to buy something pre-built, then Newegg for sure. But stay away from Dell (AKA Alienware) computers.
I concur. Please do not use a Dell. I'm using an Inspiron and having to deal with a flickering screen due to faulty hardware with the wiring between the laptop monitor and the rest of the thing (can't name the exact wire).
Getting the thing I linked above....hopefully soon.

I've been a Compaq user for a while, and when they got bought out by HP, I decided to give them a go instead.
All in all, I'm satisfied with the laptops they put out (as my brother got one slightly better than mine a bit later, and a friend bought a smaller, more portable version as well).

I myself use a Dell Vostro 1520 (NOTE: Vostro is the Business model. More brickish then the Personal models but works the same or better). Its a bit of an old model, but it has an 8300m series graphics chip, 4 gig of ram, and the power I need for when I need to either work or game away from my desktop. It handles Cata well enough for me, when I am not at my desktop.

Well sorry you 2 have had problems with the company, I myself have had no problems at all with my laptops and would recommend them to anyone. I can play WoW on High with the alienware's with no problems at all and never had a hardware problem with any 4 of my laptops.
I wouldnt argue against the ASUS either, they are great computers. However I would never buy a refurbished anything though. When it comes to computers buy them new or dont waste your money.

Bought this
Lenovo
on Newegg and haven't had any problems with it. I can run it on high (not max, however) settings at 60 fps; I can run TF2 with moderately good settings at 60fps. It gets the job done. Only complaint is the HD is only 5400rpm, go with 7200rpm if at all possible.
Newegg isn't carrying it anymore, but there's comparable Lenovos. Asus is good too. Stay away from Dell.

Heh, that's why I added that disclaimer notice. I know refurb gambles can be rather...dicey.

I agree. We've owned three dell computers (one desktop, two laptops) and they've all performed fine with no major problems. Hell, when I got a new dell laptop I gave my sister my old one... It's four years old and works fine.
However, stay away from HP/Compaq. Worst computers ever, every single one we've owned we've had to get fixed within a year of owning it, and the problems have always been pretty big.

Why in the world would you recommend a Core 2 Duo at ALL? Completely out of date as of over a year ago compared to the new i5's, and completely overpriced for less performance. Though Mobius machines are nice, they're a little behind the times.
As for the Refurbs, though ASUS refurbs never really have problems, I would NOT recommend them. Refurbs, as said above, are a huge gamble. If something goes wrong after 30 days, you're out of luck.
Well you could always drop a bit of extra money for the extended warranty. That's about it though.
