O hai
I have this stupid idea: Since I prefer playing bear over cat, would it be possible to spec for bear PvP, using cat only to sneak past enemies or as opener? I'm mainly looking for something fun to do in battlegrounds. I play resto in arena.
Can bear damage even come close to cat damage?

Thanks for the reply! :)
What talent spec are you using? My current feral spec is kind of messed up, to say the least....

Yeah I have noticed that I actually do rather well in bear with pvp with 1/1 or 2/1. The way they buffed tanks dps is the key. You do good damage with taking little damage, but you will do more damage in cat. So it is really just a big toss up of your playing style. It is basically do less damage and have 75% hp at the end or do more damage and have like 2% hp at the end lol and I do it with just my normal tank spec. I use my cat to move around and to start a fight but if they get the upperhand or a partner i go bear and usually kill him or both. So yes bear is a good form for pvp imo atm.

for arena i just dont see playing in bear too viable. vengeance would take too long to stack to meaningful amounts, and even with really high AP you lack the pressure that rip and rake apply. bear form certainly has uses when you're getting focused, as do all the respective defensive CDs (barkskin and SI can also be used in cat)...just know when and where to use all your tools.
in bgs it would work a little better since you can act as a tank in many situations such as flag carrying and holding nodes. could basically stay solo at a node while your team attacks another and you use your CDs properly to defend the flag until reinforcements come or what have you. but you can still make a spec with thick hides, SI, etc and not be a "tank" spec (ex. not taking the dodge talents or pulverize). all depends on how you want to paly

You wont see anyone successful past 1800 as a bear. Your taking away all the benefits that make a feral druid good for arena by going bear (ie. High bleed dmg, stuns w/ pounce and maim, 30 speed increase) for survivability. Plus, I play as kitty and still use SI, FR, and Barksin, i just switch forms and use them when im getting focused. Finally, if you played against anyone good they would just do the smart thing and kite you around and keep you rage starved.

I prefer to switch back and forth between the two very often.
I usually open in cat, beat the snot out of them as fast as possible until I'm out of energy. Switch to bear from and beat on them until my cat form is full of energy again. Stun them in bear from right before I switch back to cat to wail on them some more.
If they are not dead yet I might instantly cyclone them to let my energy refill or run off to stealth and start over.
Sometimes I'll spend almost the entire fight in bear form, only switching to cat every once in a while to get a few quick hits in before switching back to bear. Other times I'll be cat almost the entire time and only switch to bear form to stun them or feral charge them. (I like bear feral charge better than cat cause it immobilizes them and confuses me less.)

When I use Berkserk, I prefer to use it in Bear form because mangle hits really hard in Bear plus 3 additonal targets, and you get the stat/spell benefits from Bear for survivability. What I usually do is stun them when it's appropriate and then Berserk mangle. Most of the time my opponents cannot escape from it unless they are a mage or have a spell/trinket to escape stun. But usually they are dead in the end or almost dead if your fighting heavy armored opponents and you can still finish them off in Cat for quick execution (that is if your health pool is safe to switch into Cat).
