Okay, so, basically, I want to tank at 85. I have never tanked before, I intend on practicing. I have a friend who is a pally tank, and he never really read on "what is the best way to be a tank?" He does pretty well (for the most part) So, he just sort of made his own rotation and doesn't know the standard play style of a pally tank. With that being said, my question is. Is there a solid tanking rotation in Cataclysm that pally tanks should use?

Awareness > Rotation
If you're seeing everything that's happening, you're going to do better as a tank than someone who's tunnel-visioned and focused primarily on maintaining their rotation.
Things happen. You're better off knowing what you have to do to fix a situation than you are mindlessly spamming a rotation.
Probably the best advice i've seen.

Yup, yup and moar yup.
Though, the rotation shouldn't really be an issue for anyone; you've played a paladin for a while and have levelled it to 85 so you should know the rotation involves making holy power as quickly as possible and then using as the current situation dictates.
Common sense will tell you, considering CS and HotR are on the same CD and that one is a single target and t'other is an AoE, that CS is for single targets and HotR is for AoE'ing... There were some people (don't know whether they're still sprouting this) who thought that HotR was better than CS no matter the circumstances but you will find that, once you're in decent 333+ gear, they're wrong.
I find that using a rotation is only really needed during the start of a fight or until threat is high enough to be a non issue; two or three SotR and you're sorted on bosses, especially if you get a couple of Sacred Duty procs and use wings... Obviously this completely depends on marked targets for AoE and whether the rest of the group is doing as they should.

I wasn't meaning you specifically dude... don't worry ;)
There are a bunch of idiots on EU-Blade's Edge who often say the stupidest of things. Just yesterday one of my guildies leveling a tankadin alt asked whether it was true prot mastery is a crock of *!@#e because that's what some people talking in trade were on about.
I've had the exact same arguement with someone who basically told me parry> dodge > mastery... WTF?
But no, I didn't in any way mean you specifically said 'no matter the circumstances' ;P

CS/HotR > Filler > CS/HotR > Filler > CS/Hotr > SotR/WoG > Restart rotation
Filler = Judgement, Avenger's Shield, Hammer of Wrath, Holy Wrath, (maybe) consecrate
this is what i do, with mostly Hammer of the Righteous and not very often Crusader Strike (in normal-mode, level-85 dungeons). basic idea is build 3 holy power charges, then use them to do a big Shield of the Righteousness. I will sometimes Word of Glory instead of shield, if healer is burning through too much mana. i've also discovered that dps in normal-mode dungeons is low enough that i can effectively tank with seal of insight instead of seal of truth (again, if healer seams to be burning through mana too fast).
