I would be willing to trade some of that Exorcism damage or 3hp Templar's Verdict damage for Crusader Strike and Judgement to hit a little harder.
But, but, 43.5k Exo crits!
To be serious for a moment though, I can see how frustrating it would be to have a lolprocs drought in the middle of a PvP fight. Which is why I'm leveling a fire mage to PvP with.

So is it just me that's macro-ing AW, Zealotry and Inquisition into one?
On EJ, before Cata, they seemed to be implying that seperating AW/Zeal didn't make THAT much of a difference in terms of DPS, so I didn't seperate them, and adding Inquisition to the same button seemed to make sense, boosting the damage further at that point. Plus Inquisition can be hit at anytime as well, so I can use it for the stretch of the macro and then even refresh it if needs be.
I'm tempted to try the Guardian on the same macro for a little while, purely because I've only just dung 85 and I haven't tried it yet! (It was in fact, this thread that reminded me to get it, when I hit 85 I got the first part of the Alexstraza/Deathwing cinematic) and missed the prompt!

To be fair, Paladin's were pretty powerful in Wrath vs Mages, so the tables have turned. I just think they took the nerf a little too seriously... I blame Ghost crawler.
Umm, no.

I believe that many 80s in full 80 greens from cata can pull insane dps but keep in mind that you have 2 to 3 times their hp and fighting level 85 mobs.
I'm agreed that retri now focus more on procs and cds but I remember a time when we only had crusader strike, jugement and seal of crusader buttons to push and we were constantly oom.
Your dps might suck when leveling but I believe that at 85 the game is balanced or you are really close behind some others dps.

OMG, this is seriously epic. Ret has been paper and mage scissors for so long now, we were crushed in wotlk already. End of story.

Nah, ret is pretty out of line compared to most other classes.
It's not bad with all the cooldowns, afterwards it's just pretty slow paced, boring, cumbersome to be honest.
They have removed the 'facerollness' and replaced it with a bunch of procs and cooldowns, not particularly enjoyable.

Since Zealotry gives you a constant CS > TV rotation (assuming AoW doesn't proc) and AoW + Inq makes HoW and Exo hit ridiculously hard, you have about a half to a third of the GCDs you really want to have if you macro them together.

So far in Cata I've been less than impressed. Attempting to manage cd's, procs and two resources while in a fight is difficult. And I've been seriously underwhelmed by my dps. Mastery is not a very good stat for rets and most of the gear I get seems to have it in spades. Even with reforging I can't drop enough mastery to make up for my loss of haste and crit. I'm anxious to see how things pan out once I get enough haste to get my CS cooldown to the 3s mark. That should cut down on the filler. I find that I either have nothing to do and I'm waiting on a cd, or everything and it's mother procs at once and I can't see the mobs for all the shiny golden things on my screen.
I finally broke down and got CLCret up and running. That's moved my dps back up to competitive levels.

Don't know what you're smoking, but ret in 3.3.5 I was devestating Mages to no end. On bosses I averaged easy 12k-15k dps and in AOE I capped at 30k DPS (in ICC) with just 2 pieces of T10. Mages could not do this.
Lolwut?
I've been 1 shot with arcane blast quite a few times.
And their Aoe is by far better than ours now, divine storm was good before when it hit hard and we had seal of cleave.
