See if blizzard nerf a class once and no one complains then will keep nerfing it till it is so bad and it will stay bad for long long long time lol.
you actually think QQing about it here on on the offical forums will actually change things?
Blizz has never responded well to QQ posts, ever.
Changes happen when facts are presented, not when there is a knee-jerk reaction from a pack of whiney cry-babies when something happens to there class they dont like.
Besides the aoe 'nerf' shouldnt be that big a deal come cata since the design policy is to avoid facerolling aoe tank style
Then how come pally tanks, warrior tanks, and DK tanks didn't have thier AoE nerf? I don't see TC, disease and D&D being nerf to 37% damage or pallys hammy being nerf as well? If blizzard wants to nerf AoE faceroll then nerf all tanking AoE abilities but only Bear got nerf?
Or if blizzard don't want AoE faceroll, nerf all dps AoE or make it so it have a CD. Or they can say remove, blizzard for example.
Because Blizz is under the gun to get Cata out and working pristinely by Dec 7th and despite all evidence to the contrary they are simply human rather then super human like anyone else who rolls with the
balances
feels they truly are.
Perfection is an ideal but God help anyone on the winning side who fumbles the ball in an 81-0 game... If you had half a concept of the sheer amount of work before them you'd be damn surprised your not tanking in flightform...

Parra, i do not see what problem they solved with their most recent bear decisions. Sure, we were kinda OP in damage. But what are the results?
Swipe being the only AoE until level 80? Swipe being learned at 36? Swipe doing 25 damage at level 36? You know how much damage a single tick of Rain of Fire does at 36? Did you know paladins already get consecration, avenger shield, holy wrath, hammer of the righteous, and word of glory at level 29? Swipe doing 700 damage with top end raiding gear? Bears being infinitely weaker than the other tanks in AoE threat? Bears being the most ineffective spec for killing 3+ monsters at once (seriously, killing 5 rhinos takes !@#$ing ages)? Seriously. We kill stuff slower than Holy priests.
This game is not only about level 85.

Sure they
try
to balance it out at lower levels
And you base this statement on what? Is that an observable fact, or your wish? I think its the second. If they
tried
to balance tanks at lower level, it would not end this way. It looks like they do not intend bears to tank at low levels
at all
. Swipe at level 36, doing 25 damage.
Enough. Said
. You can not advocate that, because it is an outrageous blatantly obvious issue. How can you say it isn't. Check the recent threads where people try to tank with bears at low levels. "Help me, what do i do? How do i hold AoE threat?" "Well, you don't."
Druids are the only class that relies on crossing their fingers for AoE threat generation.
Pointing at the overpowered nature of 1 tank spec does not automatically mean all tank specs are buffed to meet it. In all likely-hood the 1 tank that outperforms the other 3 by a clear margin is where the problem is.
The problem is, it is not 1 tank spec outperforming the other 3. It is 1 tank spec underperforming the other 3. Paladins might be slightly better at AoE than Warriors and Death Knights, but both Warriors and Death Knights are deep in the faceroll difficulty level, when it comes to AoE tanking. Warrior tanking is easy sauce with glyphed Thunderclap right since level 15. Once you learn that there is nothing more important in your life than using Thunderclap, your AoE threat becomes impenetrable. Then Revenge, Cleave, and ultimately, Shockwave come, and they transform what was already pretty simple into something that is easy.
Also... uhm... Fun factor? This is subjective, sure, but i do not find stress funny. Tanking with a druid is
stressing
. Tanking with warrior/paladin/death knight is not stressing, but
fun
. But that is a minor thing that everyone overlooks, or so it seems.
If i was responsible for figuring out bear AoE, i would choose this route:
Swipe - doing about as much damage as a white swing, and critting for about as much damage as a white swing.
Thrash - doing less damage than a white swing on application, applying a DoT
Thorns - usable in Bear form, costing Rage. It might even be an amount like 50 rage.
Glyph of maul - not 50% to one additional target, but 20% to two additional targets.
Demoralizing roar - having this debuff active on the enemies would add a small threat modifier to all the other AoE abilities.

Me thinks come morning Im gonna level a new druid to 15 and try tanking at the lowest levels again.
Exactly what i just did, my new troll druid is level 2. On Lookout's realm btw. Would have been more, but i spent some time reading the druid + troll lore Zen'tabra was talking about. Anyway, its 5 am. Night.

What you'll find is that it's very hit-or-miss as to how successful you'll be. *If* the DPS give you a chance to setup the pulls, you'll be in good shape. Otherwise, be prepared to run all over the place frantically mashing buttons to no great effect.
It's doable at 25, a bit easier at 36, then gets harder against past 40 as the DPS have caught up again and are outstripping your ability to hold mobs and grab stuff back.
(The idiot quotient also rises steeply past 40... or maybe it's just the weekend.)
