It's funny how upset people get over someone's honest opinion and observation. Yes, he deserves to play too. No, he doesn't deserve to hold my jockstrap.

Yet, Joe and his ilk have just as much right to play the game as you 'hardcore' people do.
Wrong - Joe and his ilk have the right to play the game to the level they put the effort into reaching. Casuals shouldn't have a birthright to be handed end-game content on a plate - that's exactly why Wrath has been terrible.
And yet, the Hard cores are given the exact same thing; the only difference is the mindset: For the Hardcore people, the game should be a second job. Beyond that, who cares? I mean really? Does it really upset you that much that the person who only has a few hours a week to play is in the same gear as the basement dweller? I really think people need to get over themselves(note; I never progressed higher then ZA in BC, and saw my guild get shaken up several times as people left to go 'hardcore).

Thanks for telling me why I play, try again. Also, you can be hardcore without playing all day.

Nope. At 85, JPs get you blue level gear. I believe its valor points that give you epics and raid gear. And guess how you get valor points? Raiding. You don't get them in heroics (except maybe the same way we got 2 Frosties for the first heroic of the day)
Yup. This is the only reason that I stopped spending JPs on T10 gear: You will be able to buy roughly heroic-level gear (read: gear for entry-level raiding) with JPs, but you will not be able to initially get any tier gear for JPs; that will come from Valor points, which will be awarded through raiding.
When a new tier of gear is released, the prior tier will have its cost dropped a level, and will be available for JPs.
The model allows for people to somewhat easily get gear for entering into the current tier of raiding, but they will have to raid to actually get the top tier of gear.

Hardcore was 25 man hard mode Freya. Few ever did this. Or try 25 man hard mode Sindrigosa.
Cataclysm hard mode will be about kicking oneself for epic crystals. Hardcore is dead. But the stench is not yet bad enough to make people bury it.

Few games that have a difficulty of only obscenely hard have ever been successful. WoW's difficulty setting is Heroic mode bosses, and raid achievements. Most raid achievements are not trivial if you are properly geared to run the instance.
The game will never return to Classic levels of "difficulty," which was mostly make everyone spend obscene amounts of time to get mundane things done. WoW is now mainstream, it won't survive if they tried to revert it to being "hardcore" again. (Female dog) and moan all you want. The game needs "casuals" to survive.

And are any of them the biggest MMO in the business right now?
Or even known outside their die-hard playerbase? :P

Without trying to hijack the thread, I think the "difficulty setting" everyone wants to tinker with was the hard mode encounters that hardcore players were shooting to be the first to defeat. What version of hard mode did you prefer? Did you prefer the Ulduar-style hard mode, or the ICC-style hard mode?
