Well, yeah. I think they could have been done better than they were though.
As it stands, it'd be better if they just made their own giant evil old monsters (like the Elemental Lords! Those were creative and original), instead of making monsters that paid homage to Lovecraft and then having them be nothing like Lovecraft's works.

I think they wanted them to be. But they had to make their motivation make at least some sense for the average WoW player, and so this happened. Probably why they personally don't have much of a presence in the books. Only their workings.

Also that reminds me, on the topic of reading books, anyone who hasn't read Discworld here seriously needs to get started. I'm sure Ald will back me up on this one
That I will, always and forever. Sir Terry has a sword of thunderbolt iron he's forged himself when he was knighted, what else do you want?
Indeed, all hail he that rideth upon a many-legged steed of purest sapient pearwood.

Don't give me that respect just yet; Sourcery is the only Discworld book I've ever read, and that is only one of two lines from it that I can remember fully.
As for the Hobbit; haven't seen it yet, will be going to see it later today, but I don't think I'll like it much. I already know the big spoiler:
Snape kills Dumbledore! And it was his sled all along!

Yeah but as the Hobbit is only 300 pages compared to the 1200 of the Lord of the Rings it didn't truly need three movies to tell the story; that's just Money Dear Boy on the part of Jackson.
Oh well, I'm not gonna see it and won't begrudge anyone who does. Mind, unlike LotR, I actually like the Hobbit book, so that's an even larger reason not to see the movie.
