I.Intro
Just doing a quick run on the talents, so that people atleast have a basic knowledge and something to lean on.
I havent got a lot of time lately, so i cant test everything.
Feel free to add, well tested, personal experiences.
II.Mutilate
Currently im using this
specc
:
You can move points out of
Nightstalker
into
Improved Recuperate
.
Its also possible to swap the
Glyph of Rupture
for the
Glyph of Backstab
. However
Glyph of Rupture
will outpreform on overall.
You can always move the points out of
Murderous Intent
into something more fitting for you, but this is seriously one of the best talents for the execute fase.
The trick is to always have a sap on your enemy, because
Black Jack
is
really
game turning.
Try to get a kidney shot in the end for the execute fase. Usually the last 35% is easy, if you know what you are doing.
Ive made a habit of always opening with garrote (
Cheap Shot
now shares dr with
Kidney Shot
). The silence is great and the bleed fills the requirement for
Venemous Wounds
, giving you a few seconds to worry about poisons first.
Also always keep a rupture up on your enemy. The extra damage procc on it (because of
Venemous Wounds
) and the chance on energy are just sweet.
I like to add that while i was playing this setup, that i was really cooldown dependant in certain situations. I had the feeling that i just couldnt do certain things without
Preparation
. Dont let this discourage you, %^&* happens. You can play what you enjoy during this offseason.
Poisons are still wound on a slow mh and deadly on a fast oh, both being daggers.

III.Combat
:
This
is the combat pvp specc that im using:
Combat has definitely gotten some love pvpwise, although currently only recommended for duels & bgs.
The strength of this build currently is just the raw damage it can deal in a short period of time, combined with a dashing 7.8 second stun. And ofcourse it being packed with a few juicy pvp talents.
I might have forgotten to stress how important it is to keep
Recuperate
up in the mutilate section. It shouldnt be on 100%, but dont be shy to use it! It really is a lifesaver.
Something i would like to stress is the importance of gouge as combat. In this specc gouge only costs 15 energy, has no position requirement
and
incapacitates your enemy for 6 seconds. Use this often, since it also gives a combo point (for only 15 energy).
Blade Twisting
is a very interesting talent. I've tried running without crippling and i have to say that i was kind of pleased by the results. I cant really say that it will replace crippling poison, but it looks promising. I would definitely give it a try as wound/wound or wound/mind-numbing.
Be sure to always use
Blade Flurry
with
Kiling Spree
. And use a cancelaura macro, to remove it right after it (only if you
arent
geting the swipe effect).
Weapons are still a slow mh (2.5+) with wound and a fast offhand (anything) with your optional poison.

IV.Subtlety
I am currently
testing
this
I currently dont know what prime glyph outpreforms what. But the options are
Glyph of Rupture
,
Glyph of Backstab
and
Glyph of Hemorrhage
. Each has a good asset.
My current testing has proven that the
Glyph of Hemorrhage
is better, the extra bleed you get is almost priceless.
Most important thing is to always keep
Recuperate
up. It does not only give you energy, but also decreases damage taken by 6%. Unlike mutilate & combat this is a mandatory buff for subtlety.
One of subtlety's biggest strength is
Preparation
. This skill will become a holy grail in cata, because with its
Glyph
it'll also refresh the cd of
Smoke Bomb
. This can only be game breaking (although is really dependant on the outcome of
Smoke Bomb
).
Also i would like to stress out that
Backstab
is really a lot better then just mindless
Hemorrhage
spam. Always try to do
Backstab
, its damage compared to
Hemorrhage
is just outrageous. Although dont forgot to do
Hemorrhage
for the debuff(s).
Weapons are a slow mh (dagger) with wound and preferable a fast offhand (but it is usually better to equip the highest dps one you have) with your optional poison (crippling, if you cant keep the Waylay debuff up
or
wound/deadly if you can). I prefer wound myself.

V.Gear
Reforging has brought a whole new approach to pvp itemization.
We can finally reforge mindless crit on our gear into more usefull stats.
Though it seems like cata pvp sets will have more variety on stats.
Currently same hit & resi rules count:
Dont forget to double check on your hit, hit was a bit flattened this patch.
You need atleast 5% hit and preferable something around 8% (to counter miss talents), you should acquire this mostly from pve gear.
But there is nothing wrong with using the pvp hit stuff when first starting out (or you'll be low on resilience).
900 resi is ok.
1000 resi is preferable.
1100 resi is overkill.
As far as it goes to gemming & enchanting:
I'm currently full
agi
in all 3 speccs, with a
Nightmare Tear
to activate my
meta
.
Not sure if there are optimal gemmings per specc atm, but since im still pretty much testing all the speccs, i cant really regem all the time ^^
For enchanting its pretty obvious that just all straight agi stuff has become better than its ap version (because agi now gives 2 ap).

Currently im adding
this addon
here.
Its called DR Tracker and it pretty much can track the dr on everything around you, but more importantly the dr between
Cheap Shot
and
Kidney Shot
.

Black Jack...the tooltip says "after your Sap
wears off
..." does that mean that if I break it early I won't get the slow effect?
Slow effect?
Ill assume you mean the dmg reduction and ofc you will. Thats exactly its strength.
What would you suggest changing it to as Assasination for pvp? Just wondering, :)
Currently haste seems to be rocking the charts.

However, I do believe that this debuff does have DR if you sap the same target multiple times.
Are you sure?
