The Burning Legion is faaaaaar from being defeated. What we have seen is a fraction of thier numbers and power. Hell, we didnt even fight KJ's true form, just a mortal image.
Aye, pretty much this.
Honestly from what I can make out is that Blizzard has made the Legion impossible to beat.
The Naaru and the
Army of Light
will probably take the fight to the Legion.

But wasnt it the Naaru that ran from the Legion, and in doing so saved the Draenei? I thought the Naaru were extinct save for the few in Shattrath?...no. We have no idea how many of them there are.
And they didn't "run" from the Legion. They spirited the draenei—who were apparently a keystone of sorts for the Army of Light—out from under the Legion's noses. There's a difference.

Nope. They took the draenei and ran because the Legion could kill the
draenei
. The Naaru we see aren't all of them. But wasnt it the Naaru that ran from the Legion, and in doing so saved the Draenei? I thought the Naaru were extinct save for the few in Shattrath?...no. We have no idea how many of them there are.

Well, I doubt we will see Azeroth destroyed unless it is as the end to the Warcraft story. Remember that, according to Velen, Azeroth will be the main battlefield in the war between the light and the darkness.

Though, as a fantasy gaming company, that's kind of Blizzard's M.O. I really don't understand the fuss when blizzard makes something up... Who cares? They added something in to give you content...
Shame on them!
As long as there is someone with an imagination, and people don't whine for no reason(i.e. New lore). There will be more for WoW.Oh, noes! They added something non-Tolkienian to a setting that's already bordering on "fantasy kitchen sink!" RUINT 4 3VAR!11!eleventy!1!
(Drat...didn't mean to reply to a fairly old post there.)

The Emerald Dream
: Despite the fact that the Nightmare has been beaten back, it has not been destroyed. Perhaps the Shattering is so powerful an event that it ripples into the Dream, strengthening the Nightmare? If I remember correctly, Blizzard stated they've done a
lot
of work on the Dream, so it would be odd to see them simply discard it.
The Maelstrom/Isles of the Lost Sea
: We've been told that Queen Azshara is not playing a pivotal role in Cataclysm, and her undersea
city
continent would be an interesting expansion - especially if parts of it rose again from the ocean. They could also toss in Pandaria and any number of other islands that would be threatened by the return of the Naga's 'home' continent.
The Infinite Dragonflight/Second War of the Dragons
:
Potential spoiler alert!
At some point, it appears that Nozdormu is going to become corrupt, and result in the birth of the Infinite Dragonflight. The Infinite flight could succeed in partially shattering the time stream, resulting in numerous phased instances where we could encounter heroes of lore past and future. Of course at this point, the other flights would have no choice but to step in, and this would result in a Second War of the Dragons.
The Creator's War
: Apparently the Pantheon is still out there. The creators have split into two factions: One that seeks to destroy the failed experiment that is Azeroth, and another that sees the 'failure' as an unexpected success and wants to help save its creation. Of course the people of Azeroth aren't going to simply stand around when their former creators return to 'reboot' the program.
Extinguishing the Burning Legion
: I would see this as the final expansion. The Legion has gathered strength and now stands poised to overrun Azeroth. The adventurers of Azeroth must join with the Naaru's Army of the Light and take the fight to the demon world of Xoroth and the Legion's homeworld of Argus, and put an end to Sargeras and his demonic threat forever.

From Wowwiki:
The world of Azeroth also has lands located at the other side, beyond the Veiled Sea to the west of Kalimdor, and beyond the Forbidding Sea to the east of the Eastern Kingdoms. No one is sure or has knowledge of what kind of creatures, lands, cultures, life, and sentient being lives in the other side of Azeroth. It is clear though that it is very dangerous.

Personally, I like the idea of an expansion sending us to the "Dark side of Azeroth" . . .
